Lesbian Vampire Killers gets a Kicking! Anyone Seen it?

Haven't seen it, don't intend to see it, don't need to see it and most important of all... nor should anyone else. If a film's a bit crap, but its heart is in the right place then by all means waste a few quid on it (or use your unlimited card). But everything about this film screams "stay away!". It just sounRAB terrible, and not in a good way.

The OP links to another site which links to all the bad reviews in the daily papers but doesn't quote Time Out's damning one star review. So here are some choice worRAB from their critic:

"so bad, it's bad"... "pitiful playground humour"... "unimaginative".. and best of all "next to ‘Lesbian Vampire Killers’, ‘Sex Lives of The Potato Men’ was a work of rapier-like wit and Switftian subtlety."

No matter how tempting it sounRAB... just say no.

Could it be that the reviewers are taking it a little too seriously?

You can tell from the title that it was never going to be the greatest film of all-time.

There is that, also isn't the press just knocking down James Corden now? After they spent the last few years building him up. Meh, don't like him but it's always annoying to see this happen in the UK.

I'm not sure what they were trying to do a parody a comedy both or what. American werwolf in London was a parody of horror films but it was done like a horror film. I think theirs looks a bit cheap and like tv show not a film

The reviews I've read certainly didn't expect it to be a serious film.
They rate it badly because they simply find it crap. Their comments vary from finding it not being funny to being outright dull and boring.
Nothing whatsoever to do with taking it seriously. That is very clear in the reviews.

The same with Shaun of the Dead.
There was a bit of reverence for the genre they were making a comedy film from. Add Young Frankenstein to that list as well.

But one person who had seen it said that this wasn't really a proper parody. It just had a cynical feel of saying "Vampire films are rubbish aren't they?".
Plus the modern flashy speeding up and slowing down editing techniques aren't going to help if they are trying to do a parody.

I watched it not expecting it to be world class and probably a load of rubbish. Yes it was bad, but a good bad. I'll admit to laughing throughout the film at James Cordens one liners.

My advice is don't watch it if you don't realise beforehand what sort of film it is. And if you do know and still complain, then really it's your own fault.

Isn't it more that they're saying that he's a good actor who's worked with some top-notch directors in the past and shouldn't have got involved in this nonsense?

Spot on.

It's easy to summise from the title & subsequent trailers that it was probably going to be a cheesy, not brilliantly acted, with a poor storyline, drunken blokes film.

Where the critics expecting Schindler's List or The Shawshank Redemtion or something?

Perhaps they were expecting something as good as Shaun of the Dead or one of the many well-made comedy horror films that have been released in the past. Bad actor makes bad film isn't news, but good actor and promising comedian make turkey is.
