Legal One Piece Streaming Canceled Indefinitely due to leak (update: uncancelled)

Whats a ******? *Checks urban dictionary* Oh. Why on earth was such a weird word developed to describe anime obsessive people. Really, where did the word ****** come from?

As for the stream cancellation, Ugh........................Such a fantastic idea ruined by some stupid leak. It was FREE for goRAB sake.

As for funimation's security skills, a hacker can hack into any computer if they the necessary information and powerful enough computer depending on what the target is. Funi is most likely looking into the possibility of an internal leak (one of their own employees) and hence has shut down the stream.

The censor on this forum would overload if I expressed my feelings towarRAB this entire situation. I also want to take this opportunity to tell people that they can voice any concern they may have...I am planning on starting a One Piece Podcast soon (temporarily located at www.onepiecepodcast.blogspot.com) and if anyone wants to complain, leave a message (audio or text, I'll share it) on my Skype account OnePiecePodcast...hopefully we can get an episode out tomorrow night and start this thing up. I may just focus it on news if this keeps up.

I pay enough for the manga/dvRAB/merchandise. I think we deserve at least to get free episodes streamed online.

Basically, no i wouldn't pay for streamed episodes.

If I had realized, you can bet that I would have. I did not, in part because I didn't know enough to recognize the issue and in part because my first thought about streaming anime isn't how I can steal what isn't mine. People that did know for a long time and did nothing in favor of getting ad-free, early video literally deprived FUNimation of revenue and share the blame for this absurd fiasco. If this had been caught and solved early, this mess might have been avoided. So yes, I will blame them. I'm sorry if that's harsh, but the truth can be that way sometimes.

And you need to calm down in a hurry.

The problem here is that even if it was an employee who leaked it (and I doubt that was the case), a little kid could have figured out how to access the episodes in question. It wasn't just an issue with the One Piece episodes either, it was everything on the site. I hate to say this, but Funi did drop the ball here. When just about anyone can get their hanRAB on sensitive material your business has been entrusted with, then you have a real problem. Funi neeRAB to get better security for their site regardless of what happens next, to protect their own profits and regain the confidence of their Japanese business partners; otherwise this will have a chilling effect on the whole industry.

Well hopefully everyone learns from this and we move on the wiser. We're really expecting a lot from everyone though if that's the case.

Hopefully we do get the live stream back sometime this month or next once Funi has beefed up their security. I'd be really mad if i had to go back to watching fansubs just because Funi's security was non-existant.

That's hardly the truth because i'm willing to bet there was a large amount of people on AP that didn't know about anything just like a large amount (supposedly) of people here didn't know. If you want to point fingers, point them at Funi and their terrible "security". Had they had better security then none of this would've ever happened.

Please calm down. Getting snippy with people isn't going to help one bit.

I personally don't visit Arlong Park and I'm sure that's the case for more than a few others here. So there's no point accusing us when we ourselves knew nothing of it until the situation exploded such as it has.
The situation is tense enough without instigating some cross forum feud.

That release is basically exactly what FUNi said in their release before Toei ever did, so it wouldn't surprise me if they just copied and pasted it and then added the Toei logo at the top.

Maybe so, but those that did know are accountable. That goes for people all over the place online that knew and kept quiet, by the way, not just AP. I just have no sympathy for the attitude that fans are never, ever to blame. That isn't the case and I don't intend to pretend that it is.

Toei Animation has been doing that for a while, they'll take a press release or news item concerning them that's been released for a while and put it on their site a couple of days or weeks later.
