Legal One Piece Streaming Canceled Indefinitely due to leak (update: uncancelled)

Yeah, the way I see it, that "technical issues" reason backs up my theory that they're working to make things more secure so that this doesn't happen again.

I'm guessing the Hulu thing is just Hulu being a bit slow on the uptake.
 
Hopefully funi's legal3 email address is something I can use to report where their content is being used illegally because that's the address I sent 5 websites hoping they can get them to remove the episodes.
 
The only one I blame for all this is the person or persons who did this. FUNi is not at fault at all. In any case if there is a "conflict" between FUNi and Toei and/or Fuji TV, I hope they can calmly try to resolve things as soon as possible. I also agree that we should wait to hear more from FUNi on the whole thing, especially since it may not be so simple as being "cancelled" (as ANN puts it). IMO, it's not officially "cancelled" until FUNi says it is. As others have pointed out, FUNi has taken great pains to make this happen, and just like Luffy himself, FUNi isn't about to give up so easily. They WILL make this happen, but because of this whole thing, they just don't know when.
 
I think that's a much better idea though you have to admit, getting it an hour after is pretty sweet.

Beat, I think we should wait a little bit longer before we can make these kind of statements. By Thursday/Friday we can panic then.

While they aren't mentioning One Piece there, it is possible that they want to test out their updated security with FMA:B before trying One Piece again. After all, One Piece was the series that was hacked so they may want to wait a bit before trying that again or they're stilling talking about it with Toei. Those are just my guesses though. I still don't see a reason to think the worst case theory could actually happen based on the information we have received thus far.
 
I'm sure a lot of "One Piece" fans would rather watch the show without all the English subtitles. Plus what was online didn't have a Next Episode preview.
 
Best case scenario is OP getting a sort of delayed stream premire like FMA. Let's all hope their new security works.

Still, knowing Toei, staying positive is hard.

Kind of. I sort of hope they do what they did with Naruto Nation myself. Give us more Manga volumes a year. Who knows, maybe with this We can TOEI to get FUNi to get VIZ to play it straight.

I checked out Episode 391 myself, and the sub work is top notch. But then again what did I expect. This is FUNi. They actually translated "Celestial Dragon." Now to see what word they'll be using for "Haki."
 
Well, if FUNi is allowed to still go with the simulcast in the end, maybe they'll change the release time to at least a day after the episode has aired. Now thinking about it, releasing the episode only an hour after it airs seems risky, as far as people leaking the episode.
 
It was available for download from a simple url anyone in the world could type into a web browser for nearly 12 hours.

2 weeks earlier, this url was posted publicly on many web forums for direct download of episode 392 from funi's servers.

Funi totally forgot to lock the car.
 
First off, there is not 100% secure lock mechanism, especially online. The fact is, you could go on eBay and get ahold of Comic Con 09 exclusives within the week. Digital video distribution is the equivalent of being able to make molRAB and sell more of these exclusives yourself. If it was simply for 12 hours, some people had enough of no life to pass around the right URL or fiddle with the one they knew until they got the new episode... It's the potential of copying that's the real problem.
 
With FMA still on Hulu, it seems like Funimation and not aniplex is responsible for taking that down. The fact that the link is still up on their main page means that they might put it back up, since they didn`t remove all traces of it from their video site.


I read more into this, and the "hacking" involved is an exaggeration on funimation's part. Someone with absolutely no extraneous programs or even programming language could have acessed the episode before the time. It seems it was as simple as changing a few nurabers in a URL.

If true, then the leak, sad to say is a good portion Funi's fault, though that still dosen`t change the fact that the guy who torrented it is still a dick though.
