i get people in every day looking at switching, and in most cases, our pricing is still on par, even AFTER rogers discounts.
Rogers:
NEW VIP cable package- $58.97 + $2.99 (Digital Service Fee) + (price increase March 1st).
High Speed Internet - $46.95
Home phone and 4 features - $41.95 plus a SAF of $4.25
Total $155.10, less 10% for bundle for a total payable of $139.60.
Bonus offers: $15 online credit if you order your home phone service online and $8.98 discount per month for 12 months on your cable service package.
Total Credits = $122.76.
Total cost of service over 2 years = $3227.64
Average monthly cost over 2 years = $134.49
A decent package, but you are still stuck with the channels they give you, and that package doesn't even include TSN (for some reason, perhaps because it's owned by Bell???).
Bell:
Digital Essentials - $54
High Speed Internet - $41.95 (2 year contract rate)
Home phone and 4 features - $37.95 (basic line of $22 plus Flex4 for $15.95)
Total: $133.90
Bonus offers: nothing for home phone service (not allowed due to CRTC regulations), $16.95 discount on internet for first 3 months, $27 discount on TV service for first 6 months.
Total Credits: $212.85
Total Cost of service over 2 years: $3000.75
Average monthly cost over 2 years: $125.03
Bell, in this comparison (which is a fairly good comparison), will be an average of $9.46 per month LESS expensive than Rogers when factoring in the sign up promotions. Even if you don't factor in sign up promotions, Bell is still 59 cents per month LESS than Rogers, and remember this is AFTER the 10% discount Rogers gives you...as i already stated, in most cases, the savings they offer in their bundles are perception, not reality...they are simply giving you a discount on a service that is already more expensive.
