Leaving ExpressVu or got a Rant then post it here!

Sorry, I was paying $8.95 Yes, I did not get any American network feeds, it was just all Canadian, which is what I wanted. The following year I added Sports for $4.99 and the NHL package for $199.00. At least the NHL package has dropped down in price to $189 or so.

Yes, with the new programming there is no access fee's or multiple receiver fees, but I'm paying $25.00 month....although I do get the US feeds now.

Same thing happened to me. I received a credit the following month for the programming but they did not credit the "System Charge" of $2.99. Phoned in and held for 25 minutes before giving up. I decided to email them and I almost fell out of my chair when I received an answer five days later that said they would credit the $2.99.

Received a new bill a few days ago still showing the $2.99 + taxes outstanding. Sigh.

"you also fail to mention that you get the $49 back..."

Please read my post Nem, i put (credited).

"...and you get the $79 back in programming credits."

I dont watch PPV, thats what was offered to appease the install fee.

" The 100 that you lose by having the install done is easily avoided by scheduling an evening or weekend install."

I live in a small town in the middle of BC, there is no "professional" installer. They would come from out of town, on wedsdays 9am-5pm.

Nem- Who may not know all the facts.

Well I am sort of a Bell ExpressVu customer. I went out and bought one today. I was told to call the call centre and set up a install time. I was on hold for over an hour, last week when I called to ask some questions I was on hold for over an hour. They seem to cater for the east more than us out here in the west. I am returning the system tomorrow. If that's the service level I can expect I have no disire to deal with them. I'm going with a HD cable box now, less channels but way better service.

Rob this is how Bell as a whole works on everything if you are giving them more money, it is immediate, if they are going to lose money they want 30 days notice! Bell Mobility just lost my business two days ago and it is the same thing. The also wanted to charge me all these upgrade fees when their phone stopped working. When I called yesterday to cancel...all the sudden these fees could be waved! Well it was worth the difference to pay the buyout and get away from BellMobility aka Bellcrappy. Figure my net cost was about $100 with everythign factored in.

My wife works for a bank (also another bank I deal with) and there is nothing but complaints about Bell, but when you pay off the CRTC/Liberals you can do anything you want! Hopefully the Conservatives get into power and put some real competition in this country and get rid of the useless CRTC (Canadian Rights To Corporations only!).

"I have had 6 Faulty ExpressVu receivers replaced, a multiswitch replaced, been hung up on, spent countless hours on hold, been called an idiot, and told that it was my power bar so many times that it makes me ill just thinking about so rest assured I sympathize!"

That's pretty sad especially being called an idiot. I would be all over Bell and get the hell out.

well I was there, I work 5pm-5am and stayed up on all three occasions for the install. I gave them specific instructions to secure the dish to the side of the house. Well it is not secure at all. When I built my house I did not need to tell the builder to make a house that is not going to fall down, why should I have to tell them to put it on a stud, I guess the obvious is not to obvious with bell workers!

After waiting until 4:00 for someone to call and nothing happening, we called Expressvu again and repeated the story to another CSR. He said that we should take the dish back to the store and that there wouldn't be a problem. We called the store and the guy who answered said the same thing.

So we packed the thing into the car and headed back to the store thinking that was that. Big mistake, that was... We encountered the person who sold us the thing in the first place, who referred us to her manager. They refused to take it back, claiming we only had 15 days to do so and it said so on the bill. Of course, the bill also said that it was to be installed on a certain date, which it wasn't. So the boss joins in and wants to schedule another appointment - with the same guys who wouldn't install it in the first place. Long story short, he ended up grabbing the invoices, taking the dish back and screaming at us to get out of his store. All in all a wonderful experience, don't you think?

We called Expressvu after and the CSR said that since the store has the dish back we will not be charged for anything. I'm still going to be very nervous until I see my next phone bill and credit card statement. There was a 24 month agreement on the invoice, but the thing was never activated. The box was never even opened.

The only thing I will suggest to anyone out there is to buy these things online, deal directly with Expressvu, and avoid this kind of thing. I'm angry, I'm disappointed and I'm very hurt by what happened today. You sell a product or a service, then you better stand behind it, end of story.

spatzi, one reason that the 9220 and 9200 are not *interchangeable* is because the reciever activation numbers help distinguish between a new account and an exisiting. It has been posted elsewhere that you can in most cases, have the store call BEV and have them give the receiver a different activation number so that you can use it instead.
It is not that Bev doesn't care about existing subs, it is that they have a process in place to determine activations of new subs vs old subs.
If Bev didn't care about their existing customers they wouldn't have brought out the rental option for existing subs.

Nem, who expects flak from someone

You can get a dish for around the same price as a receiver (3100) around 99 at least that's the last time I checked. It does not come with a receiver as it does when you're a new sub. So if your dish gets damaged, you can buy a replacement dish. You don't need to buy an upgrade kit. Most of the time though, it's not the dish, those are pretty dam hard to break, it's the LNB or the cable, so Bell does not get alot of requests for a new dish.

they never fixed mine....i only had 3 or 4 months with the price protection,,,so knowing I was leaving expressvu for good I just paid the 9 bucks................i could take another call into bell!!!!!

I might as well get this thread started off then... ;)

...waited on hold for 48 minutes tonight to cancel my account. 'nuff said.

Thank goodness for *C.

I hate the newer themes. To keep the majority of my channels would cost me $10 more a month. To keep all of my existing channels would be $15 more a month (and get a lot of channels I will never watch). BEV PLEASE change your themes in your next lineup juggling and put music with music and Animal Planet with either TLC etc or with Teletoon. You could also take a page out of Roger's book and offer the possibility of picking individual channels with pricing for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 channels etc with a price break on the channels with the more you order. While you're at it take off the ridiculous $1.00 fee for Leaf's TV. If you have Sports Pack 2 then Leaf's TV should be included in the pack for no extra charge.

My little rant!

Truthfully, I toyed between creating a site called youknowwhosucks.com or digitalhomecanada.com.

I decided to try and be positive and help others rather than be venomous.

i sub to all the english packages andat 8 am est fox news was turnrd off. gave them a call was told free pre-view was over and was told that it was a part of news and learning pac. since i have all the english pacs i should still recieve it. was told they have to add it manually should not have to call and tell them to do it.watch out when the nfl network free preview ends cause probably the same will happen.

i had them try and sell me the satellite care package.

They called one night and after the pitch I said, one of my LNB's is not working will you fix it?

They said no because its a pre-existing problem.

I said, I understand thanks for calling.

They then asked me again, do you want the service?

I say not unless they want to fix my pre-existing problem.

they said they don't do that. I said, "I understand so no thank-you"

They then asked "why don't you want it?"

I said because I only have one problem and the plan doesn't cover that.

they said "what problem is that?"

I said my lnb problem.

They said "we don't cover pre-existing problems?" but would you like the service?

I hung up.
