Thanks for posting that. I was in New York City on September 11 and I remember leaving the city a couple of days later (it was pretty much impossible to leave any earlier) to drive around New York State, as was our original plan before the attacks.

We stayed in motels whenever we decided to stop for the night and I remember staying in a motel in the Adirondacks watching that particular show. I was a big fan of the show back then when it was broadcast on British TV so it felt a big deal to see it as broadcast in America.

Watching Dave's opening comments again bought back a lot of memories, some bad but also some good. So again, thanks for posting.

Good to see Alan's started doing the custom voiceovers on the Worldwide Pants endboarRAB again. Recently he had only been saying "Worldwide leader in pants" over the endboarRAB, but the new January shows have him back saying random things again. :D

Just watched Tuesday's show:

More mentions of the underpants bomber. :D

Dave gaining weight over Christmas - "where's the HD when you need it?" :D

Zachary Levi sure can talk fast. :D

Reports in the US are suggesting that Leno is to return to his old slot at 11.30 (whether this be under the Jay Leno Show or back to The Tonight Show is unclear). It's also thrown Conan's future into doubt.

Feel a bit sorry for Conan, as I like what I've seen of him, but anyone who thought Jay Leno at 10pm every night would work was insane. I'm not a fan anyway, but it's just not the right time for a show like that.

Nice to see Dave reigning as the King Of Late Night though!

Since this story broke I've been following it via The New York Post website,
I know the UK press is bad but reading their coverage is grubby at best (I guess they're a Murdoch paper ).

But the real gold is to be found in the comments section of all the various Letterman stories,
Here are few real gems :eek:;

"I HOPE GERRY SHARGEL CLEANS OUT THIS RAPE RAPER'S BANK ACCOUNT. HE IS A SCUMMMM-BAAGGGG! I HOPE ALL THE SARAH PALINS OUT THERE JUDGE DAVE HARSHLY. dAVE YOU SHOULD BE TARED AND FEATHERED!!!
HAS YOUR WIFE MOVED OUT YET OR IS SHE STILL THROWING UP!"

"Soon this pervert Letterman will be in a prison cell where he belongs. Thank God that we have laws to protect our young women from predators like this."

"STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES! ANI.T THAT RIGHT DAVID''BUSH BASHER''LETTERMAN....LET'S SEE WHAT YOUR "FAMOUS QUOTE'' IS GOING TO BE.....YOU'LL PROBABLY ''STUMBLE''ON YOUR OWN WORRAB ALSO,SO YOU SEE MR.PALIN,YOU ARE DEFINITELY NOT PERFECT!"

Hope Dave gets to put his side of the story this coming week, although the court case may restrict him.

Also I see a certain Paul Shaffer  is a guest this week plugging his new biography (might pick it up at Amazon US).

Cheers

Paul B.

interesting that Chevy made a contribution, too. perhaps payback for criticism of his effort at late night back on fox all those years ago?
