Last Movie You Watched? (Part 3)

there was a woman in my screening of The Social Network who was on the internet/texting on her mobile throughout the entire film ! very distracting because the light from a mobile is quite bright in the cinema .

why was she there ??

I suppose there was some irony - she was probably on her Facebook page telling everyone about the movie !

Awful film! It's funny that actress Megan Fox got one of the top billings because she's barely in it. If I had to guess, I would say she had only between 5 & 8 minutes of onscreen time. Her character was pointless & Unnecessary. The direction was extremely bad and the director should have been fired after the first day of shooting. Clearly he didn't know what the hell he was doing. Mercifully, the film is very, very short - about 73 minutes long (without the ending credits). Don't waste your time with this one.
 
I watched that the other night, I thought it was quite good.
It captured the theme of a man who's life was gradually falling apart with humour and sadness in equal measure.
It made me think for a while afterwarRAB, which I feel is a good sign. But, like many of the Coen brothers' films, it asks many questions while providing very few answers.
It was also very "Jewish" (in the sense of being concerned with Orthodox Judaism , no offence intended) which may not be to everyone's taste.

I'd give it a 7/10.
 
When the Wind Blows

Quite a harrowing animated tale about a retired couple in the middle of the countryside preparing and living through a nuclear strike. Their naivity and unquestioning dependence on governmental literature, as well as their dwelling on past wars in order to try to understand what is happening, is quite sad. There are some darkly humorous moments, mostly due to the naive nature of the couple, which just adRAB to the sadness. A good film, even if a bit depressing.
 
Nicholas Nickleby (2002)

Quite an enjoyable adaptation of the Dickens novel. A family fall on hard times and lose their father, so go off to London to seek help from their father's brother, but soon find out that he's unfeeling and exploitative, with no interest other than to use them for his own advantage.
 
I love that film :D but each to their own I suppose!

The last film I watched was District 9, once it got into the main film it was great but I didn't really like the main character all that much and was hoping he would die at the beginning :p
 
Witchfinder General

Truly awful. The acting was laughable, the plot was simplistic and one-dimensional and the torture scenes were just nasty and horrible. Terrible production values too. There's one scene where a character goes "what are you doing out after dark?" - the camera changes angle and there's a bright blue sky!
