Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans

Oh dear. Without doubt the worst performance I've seen Nicolas Cage deliver to date, and that's going some. Some scenes are excruciatingly embarrassing, the script beggars belief and there are a few scenes with lizarRAB that are on a par with the Wicker Man remake for cringeability. I voted it 2 out of ten for sympathy and for the fact Eva Mendes gave me something lovely to look at and Fairuza Balk treats us to a very sexy scene. Terrible film though, just awful on every level.

Sexy Beast

Hadn't seen this for years and it was like watching Citizen Kane after 2 hours of Bad Lieutenant. It has to be arguably the edgiest film bar none, save for the first 5 minutes everybody in it is on edge throughout the whole movie as the tension is cranked right up. Ray Winstone is great as the villain trying his damndest to go straight and of course Ben Kingsley turns in maybe the performance of his career, save for Gandhi. Excellent.

Now I loved this. I laughed more than during some comedy films. I would give it 9/10
One thing did grate though (and this is just me) much was made of the fact that it was at Christmastime but where was the Christmas market in the big square? Some trees appeared towarRAB the end of the movie.

Also saw Monsters Inc over the Bank Holiday with my grandaughter. Loved it 9/10
 
9 - 7/10 Fairly bizarre CGI animation about sack puppets ambling about in a post-apocalyptic world, fighting machines driven by magic. Thinks it's much more profound than it really is, but watchable enough.

Panic Room - 8 / 10

I wasn't sure about the film to begin with, it all seemed a bit to coincidental but I really enjoyed it. It is unlikely I would watch it a second time but I did enjoy it.
 
The Human Centipede - 7.5/10

Was good in some places and I understand why people may have found it so disturbing or unsettling but I just didn't find it scary or disturbing.
 
Carrie (1976) - 7/10

Good but not what I'd call a classic horror movie. If she had less control or awareness over her telekinesis then it would make for a much scarier film.
