Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

I'm not sure Dorcas walking off into the sunset happily married would be right, a bit too predictable...QUOTE]

Sadly, I fear you might be right... but wouldn't it be luverleeee... only if she is walking off with Timothy, of course!

In my imagined sequel, I would have them getting married... eventually, when they are about 60! Oodles of time for Adelaide to have wasted away elegantly from a lingering disease and for young Sidney to have taken charge of the Post Office.

 oooooh you just opened a can of worms there redkate.

Basically JD fell of his horse, his son (Sid) arrives from a dodgy school and Dorcas 'borrows' him while JD recouperates (sp?). He thinks they may be a 'family' when hes better, but she tells him to bog off!!!..... or worRAB to that affect :D

.... and so hes bogged off somewhere..... never to be mentioned again...... on'y by us who are still slightly bitter ;)

Was geese woman in Sundays ep?????

And Kyrsten it was moi that led you astray in the first place.

I have to say I should have read through the thread in the first place, I had no idea we had 'Dorcas' in our miRABt and whilst I can't apologise for writing something I believe, I can say I am sorry for not taking more time over the wording.
The explanation given is fascinating and yes Dorcas does come across in such a genteel way.

Loved the glimpse back in time on your 'Who Do You Think You Are', fascinating, not least your remarkable Grandmother.

He probably got someone else to write it HF so she didn't click straight away;)

I think Ruby leaving is going to open up a whole new can of worms for Pearl storylines:).How is she going to cope on her own:eek:

Still hope VH comes back tho, she and MZ are a brilliant double act:D

ok after a couple of days of thinking about this episode i have come to this conculsion

dorcas said that something was right between her and timothy but then again she continued to love him for like 20 years (no one argue with this we all saw the first series)

i think she said they werent right to spare lady A feelings because she really was the second choice (the poor man's dorcas)
but also i feel that the whole thing with sidney and that love has made her happy so she is just over the whole tim thing

we all do that
you can dump a guy because he's an ass but in a couple of months once your over it the break up excuse turns to "we just werent right for each other"

i think that's what the deal is with dorcas
took her 3 series but she is finally over it :D

Not lost interest - but a kind friend phoned partway through the last ep & I've not had time to watch on iplayer (no HD:( ). But like many of you, the series is growing on me - can't wait for Sunday:D

you can rent the first series on netflix and i think you can buy them both on amazon

i hate beans so it does seem kinda gross

i have tried to see everything she has done but i am limited (being 3500 miles away and such) although i have seen everything that i possible can :D:D

There were rumours based on the statement from the BBC that some "long running dramas wouldn't be renewed".

AFAIAA, LRTC isn't on "the cancellation list".

Nice to find like-minded people! Perhaps we should start a thread for those of us who are not overwhelmingly concerned with story arcs or whether this or that fictional character will return. A prerequisite for posters to this new thread should be the ability to write a post which does not wander over half a page or more, with huge blank spaces that we have to keep on scrolling through. ;)

Thank you, Steve--my mum is feeling much better. I have indeed seen Cranford and I loved it! And Return to Cranford was finally shown here just recently. (I loved that little old lady with her cow! :D) And even more I loved Elizabeth Gaskell's other story "North and South."

Now, about the way LRTC has been described in Britain, I just can't believe that it has been given such harsh criticism! Whoever has said those things has either never watched the show or is such an unhappy, cynical and sour sort of person(s) that they just feel the need to stomp on anything that is warm, and good, and filled with real human emotions. It's very sad to hear that. Despite such mean and very inaccurate reviews I'm very glad to hear that many millions of viewers still tune in for the show! We are relying on you guys to keep the show alive for us across the Pond!
Yes, here in the U.S. there are many fans of British TV. Despite the insistance of Hollywood that all people want to see is sex, violence and toilet humor, the fact remains that what people really want is a good story well told and well acted about realistic people with real human emotions--something to provide a nice little escape from the worries and the grind of every day life. There are some wonderful American TV shows out there, but it is British TV that is consistently superior, in my opinion. Your actors are actually GOOD at what they do, they aren't just empty-headed super models chosen for their sex appeal. We can actually identify with your characters and want to know them. Your writers are mature, intelligent people and it shows. Another thing I appreciate is that instead of creating a whole bunch of shows each season and then running the show into the ground when it's long lost its luster year after year, British TV makes half the amount but they are filled with exceptional quality and leave you craving more.
And as for saying LRTC is a "pale Little House on the Prairie imitation" that is just ridiculous. Believe me, I grew up watching "Little House" and while it was a good show for the first 6 seasons, it doesn't compare to Lark Rise. About the only thing I can say as far that goes is that Pearl Pratt does kind of remind me of a grown up Nellie Olson. A lot of Little House seemed like a deliberate attempt to tug at your heart strings (in every episode Michael Landon found some way to tear up and cry.) Lark Rise is much more "real" and not so manipulative. And it's not just your TV that's top of the game--my favorite books and movies are also British! Oh, another thing I find interesting happening to American television: more and more of the top shows are being cast with British and Australian actors. Maybe they are finally figuring out that if you want a good show you have to get the best actors! :D I'm loving it.
