Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

It did strike me that in some ways this episode 'bookenRAB' neatly with the first episode of series 1 - if deliberate it may well have been because of not being sure whether there would be any more. Both feature the Post Office declaration and its wording.

However, in the first the PO was something 'foreign' to Lark Rise to be protesting against; in the latest it is something the people are willing to stand up for. Although I am not sure how they suddenly had the time on their hanRAB to drop what they were doing and spend the rest of the day walking and singing ...
 
A big welcome to Retro girl, this is a lovely thread - lots of literary and drama related discussions, we are all in awe of Julia and indeed pretty well all the cast of LRTC.
Very fond of Cranford as well What a treat we had at Christmas.

Lark Riser I would love to see your work too, a copy would really be appreciated.
 
I'm not really sure about the women teaching thing. My great grandfather's first wife was a headmistress in about 1895, so it was possible.....

On the other hand I didn't really see what they were fighting about because there was always going to be a new teacher....

Dorcas shocked me by actually choosing a winner! Was convinced it would be a draw!
 
if you knew how much money i have spent getting dvd shipped across that atlantic you would be flattered
i mean i wasnt even alive when press gang premired and yet i own the entire series

well i am 3500 miles away and except for abfab you work isnt known over here so most people dont know what the hell i am taking about

when i have to meet with my school advisor and she asked what i wanted to be when i grow up i yelled " i want to be like bill galagher" then i had to spend 20min telling her who he is

and she recommended i going a school club to spend more time with my peers :D

people pretty much think i am a nutter
 
I was shocked that first the writers killed off Marian at the end of series 2---I still can't understand why they felt the need to do that. My favorite part of the show was the whole Robin/Marian/Guy triangle. And I agree with you about killing off Robin at the end. I wasn't aware that the show had suffered from the time-shuffle game that is so annoying with our network TV over here. No wonder the ratings suffered! I do remember being puzzled at the rather modern clothes/makeup that Marian always wore. But overall I really loved the show and looked forward to it each week.



I was just about to ask you which year I should start with! There were about a zillion produced! :p Okay, I will get the 2007 series and start from there. Looking forward to it! :)

Sundays are going to be so dull now that there isn't a Lark Rise to look forward to and all the discussion on the board that follows. :(
 
Morning All, been keeping an eye on you all whilst waiting for Series 3 DVD to arrive.
Well it arrived this morning (I pre ordered weeks ago)
Don't worry K you won't have to wait for somone to put extras on utube..............there are non:cry::cry: Unless I'm missing something.....I can't find them anyway. I think that sort of sums up this series for me............a little disappointing in places:(:(
Oh well roll on Series 4:D
 
you shouldn't judge yourself as a success or failure just because you feel you haven't done anything substantial. You are just 20 and I bet you make your frienRAB and family proud just by being who you are. I am 42 and I feel I havent done anything substantial either.

The thing is, and this is really a mundane thought, it is amazing just how much a person has achieved just by existing. Think of someone you love. Now imagine what the world would be like withoutr that person. That is how substantial you are, and by staying in and watching TV you are achieving loaRAB! Sorry, it's late and I tend to ramble this time of night......
 
Sydney does'nt have to appear in every episode but a few worRAB to explain his absence would have done, especially after last weeks episode when he was so ill.
Ofcourse Dorcus always have an excuse to stick her nose in everyones business, it's getting very boring every week.
Emma behaving like a love sick teenager. Good for you that you liked everything about it, i did not. Are we not allowed to criticise this show now, has ths become an appreciation thread. So i'll say it again, for me this programme is losing it's appeal. Just my opinion.
 
I have a feeling that "napkin" is actually what they said in those days. It was a general word for a functional piece of cloth, and "nappy" is a twee modern derivative.

That's putting it mildly. I think those men in the Waggon and Horses would have expected to see Emma covered in bruises the next day, and would have been very scornful of Robert if she wasn't. :(
 
They are on my TBR list, but so are a lot of books!! Oddly enough, I'm afraid to read them. I've fallen so much in love with the series and knowing that most of the episodes are only loosely based on stories from the book that I think I might be disappointed. Which is why I always try and read the book(s) first!! But with all that, I more than likely will read them...knowing full well that Mr Delafield and Mr Dowland are not the same characters in the books as they are in the show. :(

Oh, and I'm up for watching Ep9 Season 1. When do you plan on watching it?
