Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

I really tried with this series of LR, but I couldn't get into it - the whole way of filming did my head in - more and more sepia-tinted filming of the village. The director should go and it should get back to its roots - it's becoming a late 1800s soap....

I agree. usually my attention is solid on LRTC but this week i was having conversations with my flatmate during the show about work! I didn't dislike the episode but felt it was a bit dull compared to what we've had. I also couldn't identify with the pregnancy storyline as it was a character I've never even heard mentioned before let alone seen.

I saw that too I'm loving the Delia series - very evocative.
Years and years ago Janine and her husband actor Paul Bentall did a tv programme where the viewing public went inside their house for some reason - I can't remember why but I do remember that it was built in the modernist style, it was absolutely fabulous with an indoor pool but apparently it had been all brown and flowery when they bought it.

She was in one foot in the grave ( pippa) and more recently Benidorm as Jacky

Someone said the programme is becoming rather twee, maybe so but I think that is part of its charm. I am aware that living in those days would not be as simple and innocent as is made out but, like many TV programmes, it is a form of escapism from our hectic fast paced modern lives.

I really love Minnie's comic performances - "their knees are different" when asked by Sidney how she could tell the baby was a girl. Also did I hear her say the baby's "napkin" needed changing? :D

yeah well
if the kiRAB aged properly annie would be able to walk and talk
she would be about 3 by now and she isnt

babies on lark rise dont age properly

kyrsten you can't tell her you're her biggest fan and then say it's sad........build her up and break her down:)

As for the whispering - I'll interpret your character for you, if I may angelheart :) I think it's when you are being restrained - like when you want to shout at a character but being victorian you wouldn't so the voice is a little like a stage whisper...

Thanks for the reply about the writing....I understand why now but the BBC really should commission 2 years in advance for shows like this - if they are paying then they should get the best for their money - and I say that as someone always applying for arts funding. They leave decisions so long that projects cost twice as much cos you're trying to do things so quickly!!!

Hope this thread isn't too depressing for you:D 6 m people seem to be enjoying it - as are most of us, it's just the little things....

Ooh, can we hold off for a few days on doing episode 6? I'm desperately trying to figure out the next scene for my story and haven't a lot of time.

I'm afraid I didn't care for Dellafield. I think it was the beard--don't like facial hair. I think he was a little too Bohemian for Dorcas. I was bummed that of all the guys in the show he was the only one she kissed. Oh, well, to each his own.

Just settling down to this evening's episode. Is it me, or is Laura getting terribly bumptious?
Love Dorcas, so sorry for Pearl, and fascinated by the newcomer.

Oohh to watch LR2C whilst at work. Sheer bliss!! Can see my P45 winging it's way to me though somehow.

Anyone up for Episode 9, Series 1? I don't want this series to end. I'm trying to delay the inevitable though.:cry:

Just as a sideline, has anybody read the books? It's been sat on my bookshelf for a while and now I've finished Candleford, it's worked it's way to the top of the list. What's the verdict?

A good humming tune!! You can get cd's of past programmes on the Beeb, the Archer's being one of them, and they do go back to the very, very early years. Well, snippets of them anyway!

Watched Episode 2, Series 1 and loved the little put downs from Dorcas to the Pratt Sisters. That stopped them in their tracks. Soooooo, Soooo good!!:D Caroline was a real tonic too. Quite an enjoyable episode I thought.
