Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

Having married teachers is just one of the anomalys of this programme. I think it's best not to look too hard for the mistakes( and there are many) but just enjoy the show, though The Timmins are realy becoming annoying.

Totally agree, Dorcas neeRAB a sparring partner, when she took on Robert was one of my favourite scenes out the whole series. A part of me would like her to have a love interest though preferably a returning character not a completely new one.

I hope the special visitor is not fisher, as much as I do like him that would be a big let down.

Loved the 1st episode, but was it just me or did the last episode seem a bit off? Out of sorts, like Miss Lane herself. Ruby almost shouting at Pearl, Thomas going almost crazy, Miss Lane losing her memory, or is it her marbles?

I hope this one was a one-off. I hope the writers havn't been taking too much notice of the critical reviews that state it's too sacharrine, too soft focus. Yes, I know it's those things. I like those things. Thats what made it such compelling viewing, that and it's heart. I hope they havn't decided to toughen it up, to try and turn it into some kind of gritty realistic drama because theres far too much of that on TV right now. Yes, it has it's place, but every drama on TV seems to be like that right now. How bleak was Wallender afterwarRAB? He's already a depressive, how long before he becomes an alcoholic? Even the original swedish drama wasn't this bleak (and I thought that was better honestly. Why did the BBC feel the need to remake it? Couldn't they have simply have dubbed it into English instead?) - the same with Silent Witness the other week, watching some guy's innarRAB being spewed out on on mortuary slab and his lungs being sliced up like sushi. Urgh.

Oh yes, BBC, give me some sweet, sacharrine, and soft focus. Please.

Eh, I expect it was just the scriptwriters putting a modern slant on it. Darwinism I can understand as something discussed at the time, paganism being tolerated so lightly I cannot. Likewise did anyone think Ruby's responding to lonely hearts aRAB seem just a bit too modern? No self respecting victorian would have done anything like that. It would not have been seemly to a victorian's eyes, never mind a victorian womans'.

JD - without a doubt as I have missed Dorcas having anyone to flirt with. I even wondered fleetingly about her and Robert Timmins on Sunday!! Love Ruby but know she's likely to return whereas JD has now moved to Emmerdale so the chances of him returning are remote. First choice would be Sir Tim (as a widower preferably!)

My, my, my... The plot thickens, the discussions get deeper... there's obviously lots to be said about... hair :D

I think it's a wig.

I have watched all episodes up til now but I can't remember if it's been alluded to or discussed as a theory here before but is it possible that Pearl is Ruby's mother? She seems very protective of her and doesn't really agree with her having any male suitors as if she had been hurt in the past. Sorry if this is outlandish, it just came to mind when I was watching this weeks episode when Pearl was talking about Ruby having measles, there was an extra closeness there.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned before, but it looks like James Dowland's character might not ever come back, Jason Merrells is taking on a role in Emmerdale...poor Sydney has lost his daddy to the Soap Monster :D

i dont think i have ever cried like this over a tv show my parents keep coming into my room and asking me whats wrong
i cannot recall that last time i've been this moved by a program
poor alfie he works so hard to keep his family going and then he loses one

i thought it was funny in the begining of the episode to see dorcas doing a hard days labor and having her hair out of place because that is the first time we have seen that but after that every see she was in made me cry

julia sawalha is a ROCKSTAR!!!!

judi dench was never on this show, you are thinking of cranford, and she is awesome so i dont know what you are talking about

that sucks

i couldnt leave the house today

it snowed like crazy and i couldnt ever get to school which is a good thing because all the students who did get to class are now snowed in :D:D

***whispers*** I haven't actually watched tonights episode :o

How long in does she make an appearance.... does she speak :D

I'll do a Whoo Hoo when I watch it now :D

Another absolutely wonderful episode :) Was so lovely with Lark Rise and Candleford joining together to save the post office.

Where was Mr Robert Timmins?

I will truly miss LRtC until it returns next year. Sunday nights will seem empty.

Fabulous episode, one of the best this series, along with episode 8 and the dress maker :)

This is true for many shows past and present, but here in the States one "series" (we call them seasons here) is about 22-23 episodes. So 12 episodes for one year seems like very little to me to begin with. 6 episodes would just be considered a "mini-series". I think Lark Rise would be the rare exception where "more" wouldn't end up necessarily being "bad" with the exceptional quality of the actors and writers that they have.
