that right adelaide your the second choice :D
why isnt sir tim coming back

I thought so too, TT -- I liked the episode, but it did have the feel of "wrapping up loose enRAB" about it. Wonder if the creators are hedging bets in case series 4 is not to be?

I also noted that Dorcas called Sydney her "adopted" son instead of her "ward". Ok, I believe it now -- no more JD. :(

Hi blarneygirl,

I had acquired some before on North & South and Pride & Prejudice. I went to the website just to see if they had anything new and nearly jumped out of my seat when I saw the four Lark Rise covers. Then I was on a mission! :)

Hello all, I've just managed to find this delectable forum on Lark Rise. I have tried others, but there really isn't the depth of discussion that I would like!

I have watched it from the first series and love it to pieces. We don't watch an awful lot of TV but have been hooked and enchanted by Lark Rise to Candleford. I was even moved to write my first ever fan letter to the amazing Julia Sawalha because I was brought up to say thank you. Her performance as Dorcas has moved me, particularly in the first series where the sadness and pain was so beautifully portrayed - along with the impish sense of fun and strength.

Imagine my sheer joy and delight when Julia replied - not once, but twice and even met my crazy need for a signed photo :D

I feel as though the writers may have taken their eye off the ball in the third series and there is a slight impression that Dorcas has been 'put out to grass' somewhat. Let's see some of that steely-eyed strength and combative spirit.

I'm delighted that we do have another series to look forward to - such a shame that it's only six episodes, but better than nothing!!

I'm trying to brush the idea of this being the last series under the carpet. Trying to ignore it!! They can't kill of something this good forever.

I have an awful feeling that we are never going to see JD again.

It strikes me that because of her own lifestyle in real life, JS does not want Dorcas to have a romance. I do think that she was instrumental in b*****ing up the end of S2. Perhaps she and JM did not get on.

I'm sure that I will be unpopular in saying this!

Hope you do well Kyrsten - have a good summer.
TT did you see Twister in one of the reruns of Born and Bred recently? He looked very hanRABome even though he was a nasy b***ard in the programme.

im in class right now checking the board on my phone

for some reason i thought it would be a good idea to take a hybrid lit course over the summer
its 3hrs and 15mins of hell

it would be sooo lovely if there was a fanfic update waiting for me when i get home to make me feel better :) ( hint hint lr)

I've had this conversation with American colleagues in the past, who couldn't believe that we Brits eat Baked Beans. I suspect it's unique to our shores - cooked haricot beans, comes in tins/cans, usually in tomato sauce, very nice on toast especially if you melt some cheese in it! Also nutritious and cheap.

There are other varieties with sausages and other things, but I'm faithful to the original. If you're ever over here, give it a whirl!

She always seems to pop her clogs in things! Cranford for example.

It would open up Laura's role even more as she would be expected to care for her siblings. Emma's role is a bit stale really and not as crucial as Dorcas' or Laura's.

I do hope so!

I do hope not!

Finally got round to watching this last night. Dear oh dear. I began to wonder if there was something wrong with the colour on my TV, it was all so golden. Then I realised it was only in Lark Rise, where the sun always shines, the corn is always high and a song is all it takes to ruffle everyone

Welcome, RetroGirl01! You sound like a kindred spirit! Julia was incredibly moving in her portrayal of Dorcas in the first series, which captured my imagination so much that I still have a hard time letting go of her past with Sir Timothy. Julia is the crown jewel of this show and why the writers, as you said, 'put to grass somewhat' such a riveting character, I just don't know. "Steely-eyed strength"--I love it! I love how one moment you see the strength in her eyes and in the next such incredible vulnerability and sadness that you actually feel her pain.

Speaking of the first series, I have, for the first time, been writing my own interpretation of what occurred between Timothy and Dorcas in their past growing up together and leading up to his return in the future. They gave us so many tantalizing clues about what happened between them that I just had to do my own story incorporating them all. So far I'm up to twelve pages and still have about three "scenes" to write. It's been a catharsis for me and fun to imagine the life those two used to share together and how it tragically came apart.

Got my LRTC Season 3 DVD in the mail on Monday. It's going to be nice to watch it on the TV and not on YouTube!!! There's no telling what all I missed watching it that way! LOL

Can i ask is the awfull judi drench still in this show? i want to view it as i heard it is excellent but the anally retentive drench puts me off everything she appears in, can't even view the bond films because of her.
