Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

Angelheart, the problem is not with you - it's with the bloody writers!!!

They are the ones who make you "Miss Bossy Boots". You have to work with the material you are given.

I see that the writer of last week's and the coming episode is Gaby Chiappe who wrote 6,7 and 11 of S3, all of which were good. So, as I said before, fingers crossed.

I quite liked the dog storyline, at least the conclusion of it should I say! I think were it known this was a series ending episode, they may have written it with them having to return the dog only to discover that Margaret was expecting! :D
The dog being kept gives them more to play with next season!

I do think Minnie and Alf work well at the moment, and I laughed in shock when Minnie called Daniel Fisher, and Fisher Daniel :D

Mmmmm......

Not sure about that one, I did think if Dorcas really loved Tim she would have gone against her father............but if she didn't she certainly hammed it up with the emotions in Series 1.
Guess the whole point of that episode tho was to let us know that Sidney is all Dorcas neeRAB and we can kiss JD and any other love interest for her goodbye:(:(

Actually, I think Adelaide may have accompanied him to local events before as he said to Dorcas that she would just sit there "practicing the art of the extended sigh" at such things. She was a drag to be around when he enjoyed such things himself. He did ask her to go with him to this event but she snorted at the idea and said she was sure to come down with a chill that weekend. No wonder he sought out Dorcas instead.

Nice post and I am in agreement with all you say, also in her book Flora tells us about motor vehicles in the town, they weren't commonplace but they were present.

I watched the docu made by her granRABon about Beryl Bainbridge yesterday,( wonderful English writer - now a little eccentric) she talked a lot about little experiences and characters she had been close to influencing a huge part of her stories. I am in no doubt that Flora did s similar thing - turning the characters around to fit the tableau and in turn the writers of the series have done the same.

I was seeing a huge resemblance in character and demeanor between Fisher and Laura's father, I think we were seeing her father as a young man in Fisher, maybe Laura was too!

Hannah, definitely read As Glides the Stream ( said to be fictional) but please please read the trilogy and Heatherley, there is so much background information in them, I can't tell you how much pleasure I'm having from the 2nd read.

Thank you for your answer. I will keep watching in hope!

However, I am currently watching series 2 for the umpteenth time. Last night it was ep6, Dorcas with the flu - my favourite episode. I thoroughly enjoyed that. "You are magnificent"!

im sorry
i loved your story

your last update actually made me think about miss.midwinter
how come that was the only time we ever saw her?
and what about old amos, amos and patti?

how come we never see these people?

Hi Elinor31! I wrote my thoughts on series 1 episode 1 a few posts back (page 67). It is a fabulous episode--so chock full of Tim/Dorcas goodness. :D
Yes, the plan is to watch an episode a week.

I meant to write more last night but I had my house to clean and laundry, etc. I'd have much rather been writing! I do have some ideas of what I'm going to do next--it's just a matter of getting them written. I've also been jumping ahead to writing the ending so I have written some stuff. It's just out of sequence so I can't post it yet.

I will have to order the British DVRAB of series 3 this week! It probably won't be out here in the States until much later.
Thank goodness for my multi-region player! I like having both releases. :)

Morning All, Snow has almost gone now, after a late flurry yesterday, now back to normal rain:(

In all these endeavours of Alf P, there is not one mention of Nan, do you think Dr Who has been through the village and wiped everyone's memory of her?:D

The one I felt sorry for was Ruby. Having a sister like Pearl, bossy, with a do as I say attitude. I'm surprised she didn't think of leaving sooner than series 3. I know Pearl was looking after her, but the scenes between Ruby and her father were moving. I must admit, I did like the little one liners from Zillah (Liz Smith played a smashing part as Zillah, she was always good in the Royal Family - British comedy), but I must admit, I find Minnie hysterical - getting things and saying things wrong. I don't think Lady Adelaide warranted a show in this episode if I'm truthful, she didn't add much to it, whereas Dorcas is always on hand to help the needy - comfort, warmth and food.

I'm still trying to work out what 5 Guineas would be worth in todays moneym when Emma asks Caroline how much she owes. I must ask my nan!!

The bit that made me smirk was all the preparation for the wine jelly, but my heart went out to Dorcas on finding the plate empty. Great acting/expressions by Julia.

What a treasure trove your sister collected! Do you think you will ever scan the photographs and post them to a website? I know I would love to see them! And I'm sure the people from your village would love to see them as well. :)
