Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

I think that he never meaningfully encouraged her to engage with the townsfolk because he preferred to do his duties with Dorcas. He knew it and his wife knew it. I think that she would have become a very different wife to him if she were not second fiddle from the day he took her home.

Yes, but I had a crazed ambition to be an actress since the age of 11. It takes time for people to decide what paths they want to follow in life, and listen to Wizzy, what beautiful advice.

Series 1, Ep. 4:

This was the episode I first felt sorry for Pearl Pratt. No wonder she always thinks the worst of people and distrusts everyone, the way her father behaved.
Loved when Pearl says to Dorcas about giving shelter to her father: "You've always had a weakness for such romantical characters." LOL!

I also laughed when Zillah says to Dorcas, "Miss Pratt to see you, ma'am."
Dorcas: "Which one?"
Zillah: "Does it matter?"

The one scene with Timothy and Adelaide in it bugged me because he got all gooey over her suggesting he run over to Oxford to plead with the magistrate on behalf of Caroline's children. He thought she was showing she cared about the children when the only reason she said it was to get on his good side. She didn't care a whit about Caroline's brood. She's so cold and boorish. No wonder Timothy prefers Dorcas--she at least truly cares about others and always tries to help them.

And poor Thomas and Dorcas when that horrible man steals the wine jelly. So funny when Dorcas started to cry over it
'cause she was afraid of Thomas's reaction to losing out on it yet again!

WOW could be IC, wouldn't that be a great house to own?:D, wonder if the show is on iplayer?

Edit: found it, neeRAB a bit of work:D. Did the post master live right next door? Can't remember, but Flora's eyes have certainly viewed that house, it's over 200 years old:)

Lol, that hall is right beside my uni and I never even knew that twister was going to be there!

That was a great find :) The only thing was that it said that Liz Smith was still in it so Im not really sure how reliable it is.

:D I like it. How about this one?

With the coming of the railway there has of course been an abundance of new jobs and Alfie spoke to Robert Timmins of his dream to be a signalman. Robert encouraged him to go for his dream and apply. The postmaster at Inglestone (who secretly hankers after Miss Lane) is very sorry for all the distress he caused her by his selfish and spiteful actions over trying to close down her post office and is anxious to make amenRAB. When he hears about Alfie

Thomas and Margaret, along with Minnie were the highlights of the night for me. The main plot line seemed disjointed, although I watched with interruptions so I may have missed things.

Good episode tonight, loved the Pearl/ Ruby shower scene at the end! That made me laugh :D

Not really sure if I like Laura and Daniel yet but next week looks like we will see more about that.

Yeayyy:):)

what is Julia coming to? Hello and Loose Women?(can't wait to read and watch....)

PS second episode timing's still to be announced - You know how confused it all got last time with that and numbers of episodes....:o http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/proginfo/tv/2010/wk3/sun.shtml

Job interviewer to LarkRiser: "So, can you tell me why you were sacked from your last job?"

LarkRiser: "Well, there's this show called Lark Rise to Candleford, you see, and it is insanely addictive.....

To address Julia's voice in the show, I never even took notice of it being "whispery and breathy". I did notice that she had altered her accent to compliment her character and thought she was doing a great job. A fellow LRTC friend was discussing this with me today and she was saying how ladies back then were brought up to speak in a soft, gentile voice and to not go roaring about like a commoner. Julia is correct to speak as she does in the show as it reflects her upbringing as a proper lady and as befitting her position as a prominent member of the town. So bravo, Julia! You've got it right. :)

I'm not sure Dorcas walking off into the sunset happily married would be right, a bit too predictable, it's not up to me though. We shall have to wait and see what Mr.Gallagher has up his sleeve, I know as much as you do.
Late bloomer here! I only just heard of LRTC two weeks ago and found this forum a week later. I've been playing catch-up since...both with the series and this forum. Would it be too much to admit that I've seen both series 1 and 2 twice over now in this two week perios and starting on a third viewing with a friend who I introduced to it?? For some reason the term OCD is coming to mind! :D

So, intro out of the way, I wanted to add my two cents to what Angelheart had to say about Dorcas(sorry, this is from a fairly old post, but I just read it so its new to me :)). It probably won't be very popular with the masses, but here goes. I AGREE!! Dorcas is her own woman, she's financially secure and if she can't have her first love, Sir Timothy, then I say leave her be. My interpretation of her character has her happy with her life. Sad for lost chances and probably a few regrets, but happy with who she is. I have to admit though that my view is colored by being a 37 yr old 21st century spinter! :D:D

Series 3 is only available to me via Youtube and I've only seen eps 1-5 so I can't say for sure if a love interest is written in for her, but if not, there are only 6 episodes in season 4 to get her loved up and married off. Can you really see Dorcas finding another man, trusting him, falling in love with him and marrying him in 6 episodes or less?!? LOL

Fingers crossed the BBC doesn't rush season 4's story lines just so each character gets a canned "happily ever after" ending. I'm all for happily ever after (and a large part of me does actually hope that Dorcas does find love) I just don't want it to feel like "Ok, the BBC says were out of money and have to wrap this up. Julia and the others have work they need to do on other productions so lets put a pretty bow on this and call it good."
IMHO :)
