Lark Rise To Candleford Series 3

Yes, the chair bit was a bit daft. Twister may be a countryman but he is not stupiud. Why would he protest about his stressed wife making enough money to pay rent and keep them out of the workhouse by selling a chair? He surely would have been relieved especially as just a few episodes ago he was worried that stress may kill her and kept making sure she was still breathing!

I agree about Laura. She has no personality and is sooooo self-absorbed. She doesn't seem to care twopence about anyone else's feelings; she is a proper madam. On the other hand, the Alf and Minnie storyline is lovely, and they, along with Dorcas are my favourites. It should be good next week with Tom and Margaret and the dog.

What a wonderful, heart-wrenching episode. The acting was superb, and the storyline sensitively handled. The children's performances were excellent too, even the baby was good! Amongst the adults, it's difficult to pick put anyone for special mention, but Alf, Thomas and Miss Lane, I felt, were exceptional. The tenderness, vulnerability and fear which Julia displayed as she nursed her 'Little Man' was remarkable, and surely every mother watching felt for her. I wanted to go and hug her.

The episode was cleverly planned - the blue skies, golden harvest and happiness of the opening scene contrasted perfectly with the sad, sombre developments. Some producers might have used thunder and and black skies to reflect the mood, but by filling our screens with light, the shock of the sick children was made more terrible.

This was an episode to remember - and it brought home how common disease and death were, especially amongst children, in times gone by. Well done, and thank you.

I would not even mind this - if the quality of writing and continuity was maintained.

I know it is sunday evening "feel good" tv but there were times when I felt that because people were well disposed towarRAB it, the producers etc felt they could be treated with impunity - ie they could change story lines or characters or have jarring incontinuities on a whim - and we would not object but still sit in front of our sets with our brains switched off because everything was bathed in a golden glow and it was Sunday evening.

I don't actually know what goes on in soaps, never before having knowingly watched one, but surely if they took this sort of liberties with Eastenders, they would lose viewers by the bucketload?

Anyway, I shall henceforth hold my peace. For all the millions still watching - enjoy!

In total agreement with your excellent post.
My enthusiasm has wane this series, whereas I would normally be sitting down with heighten excitement to watch the show, then afterwarRAB read everyone views on RAB, I'm just not doing that this series. So I'm glad it's not just me...

if you read back
no one believed it was her
someone contacted her agent to tattle thinking that julia was a impostor

some of what people were saying was uncool

I must admit, I thought exactly the same thing, Dorcas wasn't being honest. Had she wanted a child, then it would have been perfect with Sir Tim and she'd have had everything she wanted all neatly packaged. I definitely got the impression she was telling a little white lie to Lady A.

It's not really the name that's the problem tho GG, it's the fact that Laura said it was my MA's name..............if she'd said it was my grandma's name before she got married or my Ma's sister married a Dibber or even my PA had a cousin called Dibber.........no problem, it's just those few worRAB 'It was my Ma's name' that is the cause of all this hoo ha:(

Faith.........with Mr Darwin on her shelves, Mrs D...mmmmmmm I'm not sure:D:D:p

My PC seems to be playing up, so if I'm not around tomorrow, it's not because I have been abducted by aliens:D:D
(maybe I'll wake up in the shower and Emma dibber will all have been a dream):p

My point exactly BW, or it will end up being a soap where anything can happen...........Zillah could be the Dirty Den of Candleford........sorry I'm still very grumpy:mad:

That's right MN, by just taking out that one line
'that was my Ma's name before she married my Pa',
it could have all been on her Ma's side and everything would be perfect.............are you listening Mr G?

Sorry everyone....I will stop moaning now:D:p

Edit: Sorry My posting obviously isn't perfect this morning..........do you think I'll get repeat fees:D

but only 6 eps......interesting.

final series maybe to tie up loose enRAB?

it means they will have alot more time to write and film which can only be a good thing :-)

Hi, I haven't posted here before but I'm a big fan of the show so "I thought it was time for me to post something.

I'm fairly sure that that is not the end of the Dorcas/Sir Tim story line. We still don't know what happened to him, or where he is. It did say in Julia Sawala's LK interview that we would be finding it out in a few weeks time. After all the anguish of the first series, I don't think that their relationship could be written off in just one episode.

When Dorcas said that there was something missing, I wasn't sure whether or not she was trying to convince herself or the Lady Adelaide. But, ultimately what I think she was saying was that she was very happy in her life, she has a son now. And although they haven't been together very long, I think she loves Sydney more than anything. If she had married Sir Tim, Sydney never would have come into her life. And Sir Tim wouldn't have his daughter.

what scene are you talking about?
all the scenes where her hair is not up then it is braided and off to the side
it is never completely let down (until last night)
i think they were like some sort of star

Even though LRTC is only getting 6 episodes for it's fourth series do you think a fifth series is possible? I was thinking about "Spooks" which has only had 8 episodes in each of the last few series, and I believe they are filming a ninth series now. That has given me hope for LRTC!

Do Thomas and Margaret remind anyone else of Mr and Mrs Beaver in Narnia?.......

I liked today's episode, I think it neeRAB something grittier to keep people watching every week though......story arc.........that's it!!! I remember that word now :) I haven't worked out what the story arc is.ep 1 and 2 are nice but they seem to stand alone a bit....

I saw the interview! I was shouting at the screen for Lorraine to ask 'Will there be a fourth series?' but she didn't :D . Julia looked bloody gorgeous though. It sounRAB like an amazing show to be working on...

Didn't both Dorcas and Sidney at one point say
'I have everything I need here' or worRAB to that effect BW, meaning no Pa required maybe:confused:

The way JD left last series has always made me believe the door was still open, but with each week I feel it slowly closing on him.
Look on the bright side.......if we fear the worst anything else will be a bonus and we wont be disappointed:D
