Kicker L5 15 blown need help?

So yesterday I blew my kicker L5 15 with a 750.1 kicker amp. I was pushing it pretty hard but i thought it could handle it but anyways i was wondering if a L7 15 could handle this amp better and not blow?
 
First off the L5 15" is supposed to be 750 watts rms, there is nothing to say that the L7 will be any safer on 750 watts rms with the exception that the L7 is 1000 watts rms. The only thing I can say is that the L5 and L7 lines are known for mechanical failure.
