in may of 08 i got a ninja 250. and 2 months later after my 15th bday i got my motorcycle license (i live in texas). and that was plenty power for a beginner. like you i have ridden dirtbikes and four wheelers since i could ride a bicycle. the only thing similar to dirtbikes and streetbikes is the clutch work. riding on the streets is a whole 'nother monster. i put a jet kit and a two bros muffler on my 250 and it was just right (and im 6'3 206 lbs). about a month before my 16th birthday my dad surprised me with an 09 zx6r. its awesome, but im almost positive that if i hadnt of had a years worth of riding experience i would have dumped my zx6r already. the 600 to the 250 is like a corvette to a honda civic. that thing is a rocket ship. and im still not as comfortable on my zx6r as i was on my little 250. start out with a small bike, for your safety. and itll be easier on your wallet as well.

take the msf course!

I'm looking for a motorcycle, obviously. I like the Ninja ZX-6r Monster Energy. I'm 14, and I'm not actually buying the bike until; First, I can work up 10K(a year, maybe), and 2 have a license to ride legally, 15-16 where I live. I have no experience with sport bikes, but I have years of riding ATVs and Dirt Bikes under my belt. Is that the bike to be looking at? If it helps at all, yes I'm 14, but i'm also 6' 1 and 198 lbs. I was looking at the Ninja 250 but I figured I was to big, and I can handle bigger than that on a quad. (trail riding a Polaris Sportsman X2 800). Please Help!!!!

You ever thought about the ninja 500? It's be harder to get in trouble with that...save you a lot of money. I'd go with something a little less incredible, as far as performance goes, and try not to die.

having experience will help but as a beginner you should not get a super sport go with a sport and then upgrade to a super sport when your ready the zx-6r is designed for a track and will preform to that standard it can be too much for a first bike get a sport 600 you will not "out grow" it fast like a 250 check out the ninja 650 r a super sport also has an aggressive riding position and can be uncomfortable on long rides but if you feel like you can handle it get it but please take a safety course and don't be a squid wear all the gear.
