I have a 1999 kawasaki 300 C quad bike that when i charge the battery and take it out then go to start it again the next day the battery is dead, what could be wrong? is there an altinator? Also some times when i take it out and i take the choke off it it will splutter and then eventually stall, i have to keep the choke on it to keep it going, could this be something to do with dirt in the tank? if so how would i clean it?

Most likely its the battery. However your charging system could need repairs as well. Yes it has a charging system for the battery. Its not exactly the same as your car's system but works generally the same (without getting to deep into it) Try putting a volt meter on the battery after it has been sitting for a day without riding not the voltage. While the meter is attached and the bike running, take a reading if the volts are below 12.0 its the charging system. If the volts are normal around 12.0-14.0 its the battery.

The fact that your bike will not run without the choke is a completely different problem. It could be dirt in the tank but see if there is a fuel filter some where and see if that is plugged. if not, get your carbs serviced if you cant do it yourself. There is probably varnish in them from dried fuel. If you want to clean your tank remove the tank and drain the fuel from it. Put a little gas back in and shake the tank and immediately dump the gas out, the dirt should come out if there is any. Do this as many time necessary until it come out clean.

If i were you i would buy a new battery. Quad and motorcycle batteries are different than car batteries and they need to be replaced more often. I also don't think there is an alternator in a quad hence you have to charge the battery.
