Karl Pilkington - An Idiot Abroad on Sky 1

KP is aware of everything he's not stupid he knows the character he is playing to full effect, he is certainly very unique - he was an XFM producer for many years so he knows how to create good entertainment..................

Karl Pilkington (born on 23 September 1972) is a Sony Award-winning nominated radio producer, poet, podcaster, raconteur, author and cult celebrity best known for producing and co-presenting The Ricky Gervais Show on London radio station Xfm from 2001 to 2005 and later in the form of podcasts and a television show on HBO. In October 2006, Pilkington's first book The World of Karl Pilkington was published, featuring original ideas and drawings by Pilkington, based upon the subject matter discussed in the podcasts. His second book, Happyslapped by a Jellyfish, was published in October 2007, and he was the subject of the Comedy Lab episode "Karl Pilkington - Satisfied Fool", which aired in October 2007. His third book, Karlology, a musing on his views on his own intelligence, and attitude to learning, appeared on 1 October 2008.

I think he plays it up a fair bit since he has become famous for it. Like Paris Hilton on TV. She is still dumb, just plays even dumber.

Is it just me that finds anything to do with "Karl Pilkington" to be extremely un-funny?

I loved The Office and Extras, but just don't get this at all.

Yeah, I think he plays it up a bit, and he knows it's funny, but it's just an exaggeration of his real self, not acting.

Just like I think his friendship with Ricky and Steve is real, but they play up the piss-taking for the shows.

The new show looks brilliant though - can't wait. :D

Oh my - it looks AMAZING. I literally cannot wait!

...and of course Karl know's what he's doing. He has a persona that he plays up to. However, he is 100% genuine - he still doesn't know whether he controls the brain, or the brain controls him...

It has a connection to Ricky Gervais / Stephen Merchant, an instant 'hell no' from me. Two incredibly smug, over-hyped and annoying people. It suits is home on Sky 1, it's where most of the rubbish is these days on TV.

I thought that, too. I can't stand Ricky Gervais. But I'd urge you to try the Ricky Gervais Show, because I caught a bit while I was flicking through channels and it was hilarious. Mainly because Ricky says very little. As others have said, he's not really the main part of the show.

As to Sky1 being rubbish, 100% with you on that.

In the same way that everybody in the world has been playing the same roles for years, yeah...

To everybody complaining about Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant, they're barely in this series.

Also, I don't get why every time a Ricky Gervais project is mentioned, people who have apparently always hated Ricky Gervais keep crawling up just to point this fact out. If you don't like him... stay away... it's not like most of the people used to love his stuff and are still watching in the hopes it'll get better, they've just always hated him. So why bother even comment or watch?
