Just Watched Shutter Island..

LOL I still believed this was the case at the end and that he knew he could never leave the island so wanted to die a a 'good man' (Teddy) and not live as a monster (Andrew), obviously that's what I wanted to believe but got it wrong

Yes you're right, loved the film. Not scary as some were saying it would be, Leonardo was superb as always. One of the best films this year IMO.

Brilliant film, I kinda guessed the twist (if you could call it a twist?) not long into the film. My girlfriend thought they were trying to make him crazy, I said I think he already is :D

There was a bit of dialogue that caught me off guard, I think Ben Kingsly says something random to Leo (or someone does) along the lines of 'why are you wet baby?' I never thought much to it until he reimagined the scene when he discovers what happened to his kiRAB, when he see's his wife he utters the same line. All part of Ben Kingsly's character's plan to get Leo the remember his past I guess, very clever!!

The twist was revealed too early in the film IMO, I was actually expecting a second twist where it was revealed that he was who he said he was all along, and there was some sort of outside conspiracy to get him locked up. It never came and I was actually disappointed by that.

Saw this tonight and loved it. One of Leo's best performences and in my opinion the "twist" was just not important as the movie is a very indepth character study more than anything.

I really enjoyed this as a thriller type film. I was in suspence throughout despite the twist being obvious just because the pacing and storytelling was so strong. One of the best of this kind of genre in recent times.

A relative recommended this film to me a few weeks ago. So, I popped into the Exchange Shop and bought the blu-ray version.

To be honest, after about 30 mins, I was totally restless watching this. Slow, ponderous, dull, dull, dull.

I did manage to see it through to the end, and was thankful it ended finally after a little over two hours of boredom.

Thankfully, I did get some cash back when I took it back to Exchange and bought two blu-ray discs Dorian Grey and Edge of Darkness. Both far superior films.

I watched this over the weekend and really enjoyed it! I agree with others that this film is not about the 'twist' or a big reveal, but that the enjoyment comes from the story unravelling before us as various clues drop into place.

Many people (including myself) guess part of the 'twist' from the very beginning, but that is not the point of the story. What I was left with when the credits rolled was a feeling of sadness about Teddy's situation and an interesting philosophical question to ponder.

I rented the DVD over the weekend, but have just ordered it off Amazon so that I can re-watch it a second time, knowing the whole story and seeing the different ways each scene and character can be interpretted.

brillaint film, i liked the old school detecive..ness lol for first hour and a bit but the 2nd hour blew me away,i thought they were trying to trick him and then BAM! the reveal, and also leos last choice was very thought provoking
