just received seido 2600mah battery

i haven't put the battery in yet. but i doubt it's much heavier. at work, my phone sits by the speakers it's hooked up to. so i'm rarely handling it throughout the day. yes, it's bigger, obviously. i expected it to be. but honestly, like i said, the cingular 8525 is huge. i remember when i first got it,i was like "this thing is a brick!." but if you use something like that for over 2 years, you get so accustomed to it. i never had a razor,or any kind of slimline phone. so what everyone else considers huge, i consider normal. by the way, i'll let ya all know if it catches fire tomorrow, lol.

Thanks for posting more pics. I think I am goign to have to wait and hear some more reviews of the seido battery.. This thing already feels big after so much time spent around the iPhone and the plethora of razors floating through the streets

The 1st edition Iclown is very awkward to hold without a rubberized case. (and I have huge hands)

The G1 feels so small in my hand, it sometimes slips out my hand without the rubberized case.

ok,here goes. i woke up at 7 am and pulled the battery out of the cradle and used a forklift to carry it to my g1. 7:15 i turned on the phone and enabled wireless, gps and turned up the screen brightness. 9am,arrived on jobsite and started streaming from stream furious. 10 am, battery was at 78% ??? had me bummed out. i streamed just about all day. on my break i did some websurfing for about a half hour. yahoo im was running in the background most of the day. 5pm,battery died. throughout the day i went online a few times, got a few texts and that's about it. it seemed like surfing the web from edge only drained the battery significantly. but i'll have to test that further. i restarted the phone several times after it died till it just wouldn't boot up anymore. the battery is back in the cradle now, since 6pm and i'll probably let it charge till 2am or whenever i go to bed. all in all, 8 hours of streaming music on edge and having gps enabled the entire time. i'd say not bad. if i wasn't streaming and was simply using the gps on a roadtrip, i'd probably get well over 10 hours. but hopefully calibrizing it will increase the battery life overall. tomorrow is my bum day, got the day off. as i'm on my pc, i'll test it again by using roughly the same settings. maybe i'll just leave the gps off and see how long it will stream from imeem or stream furious. i'll be home most of the day and i get a great wifi connection from my router. so i'll probably stream from that and check the results.

after fully draining battery and charging for 8 hours, here are my second set of results on the 2600 mah battery from seido.started streaming at 11:30am. after an hour and a half of imeem streaming from wifi and doing nothing else on the phone i'm at 82%. 1:30- 75%. 3pm-55%. 4pm-47% 5:10pm-35%
6:15-31% 7:02-17% 7:30-8% 7:47-5% 8:10-phone shutdown. so approximately 8 1/2 hours of streaming on wifi. i'll charge the battery overnight and run the same test again tomorrow.

Ok so i received my new 2200mah battery and its working perfectly and its really not that thick or bad or annoying its really great and works perfectly and ok so my question is this. When the new OTA Update is released wether it comes thru cupcake or another one (the update to help users with the battery life) will that apply as well to the people that bought extended batteries as well? I know this can be a very stupid question but hey im curious and want to see what people say. Thanks guys

Merged due to similarity.

To answer you question, the system stores calibration settings. Unless you do an image reflash or a factory wipe, the calibration settings should be retained across firmwares. And you could have a watch battery powering the G1 and as long as it was providing enough power to download and install the update, you'll be fine.

It is a rumor. T-Mobile has only officially said that they are "working on a solution." That could mean anything and everything. Someone here said a Tmo rep told him that G1 users will be receiving new batteries. So far, that is the only claim. No one else has heard anything similar. Another user speculated that we will be receiving new batteries because he received one for his Wing. It doesn't mean the G1 will get the same treatment.

One thing is for sure is that Tmo is aware of the battery problem. So, if you call them up and tell them about your battery's horrible life and how it significantly affects your ability to use the G1 as a phone, Tmo will send you a new battery and you can also keep your existing one. With 2 batteries on hand, you should not be running out of power any time soon.
