After reading 3000+ posts about IED's I decided to install the Nightrider XIED's on my "08 Ultra Classic. Installation couldn't have been simpler. It took longer to do a neat tie-wrap job than install. Simple. Front O2 sensor connector was under the voltage regulator tie wraped to the frame. Rear O2 harness connector was behind the filler cap. Piece of cake. Didn't do any temp readings, but rode about 70 miles today and in my opinion, and more importantly, my wifes, the bike did not give off anywhere near the heat it did before the IED's. That makes sense. I flew a turbocharged Bonanza for 10 years, and we used fuel (mixture) to cool the exhaust gas to keep the turbo within temperature range - it's amazing what a little extra fuel can do in cooling down an engine. Not sure there was any measurable improvement in performance, but that's not why I purchased them. Just like the Bonanza (air cooled/fuel injected) heat is definitely the enemy of longevity in an engine (within reason). Just my two cents. Not sure why they cost 100+ bucks (2 resistors/wire/2 connectors/heat shrink) but I don't hold it against them. Gotta recoup those R&D costs.
