Just got my E65 (pic inside)

Congratulations on your new phone Phat! How's is the sound quality through external and internal speakers? How does it compare to N73 or N80? Also, how's the video recording quality? I wonder if it's the same as N70.

Did you change the Network to GSM only?
That should help.
I charged mine up yesterday afternoon, bluetooth always on and connected in the car, mail check every 15 minutes, a few calls, WiFi alittle, some Web. Just dropped on bar about an hour ago.

Ok, got mine today and thought I would do a mini write up after some serious time spent on the phone. I will be comparing it to the 6280.

First thing, the phone feels great, very classy and not cheap at all. Picture do not do this unit justice. It is very attractive. I would like to point out some random pros and cons of this unit compared to the 6280.

1)Text on E65 is not near as good as the 6280. The keys are too firm for fast texting (I generally make and receive around 3000+ a month). Also, with the 6280 you have just a much quicker way of sending text as far as the options to send contacts recently used exc. With the E65 and its with Symbian in general it often feels like you just have to take an extra step to do whatever it is you are doing.

2) Video and Music playback is superior on the E65 easy. Nothing to really go on about except that if you use your mobile as a media device the E65 is better then the 6280. Sound and features.

3) Internet. Wow on the E65. THe browser is excellent and very, very fast. As far as wifi, no problems here and the range is much better then I thought it was going to be.

4) Custom settings. Sadly, I feel the 6280 in far superior in this category. Its not about how much stuff you can change but how convenient it is to use the stuff you change. For example, it is kind of a bummer that the d pad does not have the option to select what you want to use personally. The E65 does not feel slow to me, but because how the UI is it tends to seem like time is wasted.

5) The keys on the front of the E65 are just too small to be effective in a hurry. My wife is 110 lbs asian and even she complains.... The bottons feel cramped.

6) While you can customize individual ring tones, I have been unable to use custom videos.... This is a real bummer to me.

I could list much more but I have already stirred the pot enough! I did just receive this unit today so maybe after some more playing I will find some things were just me missing. Oh, almost forgot, complete compatibility with Vista 64. It is great how it sync with the Contact list.

so, i got my e65 today..
its a nice phone, i dunno i expected more..

the slide mechanism is not as robust as the motorola rizr,
the rizr had an awesome spring effect to it..

this one seems like it needs a lil oil or something lol.

the voice quality, hmm while it seems good, i find it a bit to much bass on the heavy side.. i prefer the k790a on this part cause it had a nice high pitch tone to it.

HSDPA is a lot faster than UMTS. UMTS is called 3G, although 3G is a broader term to include WCDMA as well (CDMA too, am I correct?).

HSDPA is simply referred to as 3.5G.

Thanks. Pardon me for being a noob, but which type of headphones work with it? None of the Nokia pop port ones say they are compatible.

Even better! The great thing about the designated keys is that you can still have one-touch access tpo the common apps while using active standby

N70, N91, and E70 have the same camera, and the video recording is considerably better than any of the other N series except the N93. If E65 has the same camera as the phones I mentioned than that's a very good news.

Phat,

One more thing I just thought of. That camera quality is REALLY bad. I mean really bad. I've never seen a phone with quiality that bad. What I'm wondering is if you maybe forgot to remove the Nokia protective plastic from off the back of the lens? maybe?

Oil? Lol man, I love the slider on this. I find myself flicking it open and closed almost habitually for fun. The slide is perfect like the 8800/1. As for sound quality, the earpiece, it's louder and has a better frequency range than three k7's I used. It sounds just like the n73 and e70

It's explained here http://www.e-series.org/archives/285. I haven't been posting on HoFo that much lately because I'm so busy at work so If posting an educational link to a blog is against the rules then please feel free to remove it. Otherwise this is a great blog on E Series and mostly E61 but others also.

Battery life for me is great. Right on par with my e70. It's been off the charger since this morning at around 7:30 a.m. and it hasn't dropped a bar yet. Mine is set to GSM Only as well and I do moderate browsing throughout the day with several phone calls. I'm also running Blackberry Connect which gets my Comcast and work email. The problem maybe Mail for Exchange. I seem to recall my battery life less than stellar on the e70 before switching to BB Connect. If you can switch to that it should improve your battery life.
