Jumper

Nothing special I thought. It passes an hour and a half if your bored. Mind you, it does have Rachel Bilson in it. I was never a fan of hers... untill now. She is a wee honey so she is. Rachel is very pleasing on the eyes. She is better sticking to movies rather than below sub-par tv shows.
 
I agree with this. I thought it was a load of rubbish to be blunt. Hayden Vader is not leading man calibre and Samuel L Jackson was on sleep-walk mode through this. The script was corny and the story was daft. They obviously left it wide open for a sequel but didn't really give any reason as to why you'd want to see it.

Probably the worst movie I've seen so far this year. And I've seen National Treasure 2.

I agree- saw this yesterday- what a waste of time - Hayden in this film is actually half man/half tree! The script does seem like a first draft of a script, lacking in both thought and detail.. Rachael Bilson crying 'David David David David!' was getting on my nerves!!!

I really want to see this film but never got around to going to the cinema but its out on dvd in June!!

So I will buy it then. I think Rachel is a very talented actress and Hayden Christensen is meant to be quite good too so I think it will be a good film.


There is going to be a sequel- Jumper 2 was announced a few weeks ago- but no confirmation on whether Rachel will be in it yet. But I am sure she probably will be.
 
Watched this Saturday night on DVD- my wife and son had watched it in the cinema and really liked it.

So, with expectations of a great film....

I thought the idea of the film was really good, but something was missing. Hayden Christiansen isn't a good enough actor to carry this film- Jamie Bell completely acted him off the screen every time.

Samuel L Jackson's character was ridiculously villain-ish, and they didn't really give any backstory on the 'Paladins' and 'Jumpers' history of animosity- as to why, how it all started etc. I thought it was rushed all the way through, and the bit where
he met his mum at the end
was devoid of emotion.

Shame, this had good potential.
 
As much as i think this is a fantastic film (I think I'm in the minority of people that does), i couldn't help but feel that there has been loaRAB cut out of this, i saw the preview for it a couple of weeks back (I saw this film on the spur of the moment at the cinema using my orange wednesday thingamebob with a mate of mine) and it just seems that quite a few scenes from the preview have been removed from the final cut of the movie, and its stopped me from buying it on Blu Ray because I reckon there will be an "uncut/extended" version released at some point in the near future.
My mate bought it on DVD and said its the theatrical release. so fingers crossed they will eventually bring out an extended version.
 
Loved the special effects and the story was pretty cool but like the previous post i felt something was missing too.

Good film but nothing special. Jumper 2 i feel is when the film will really kick ass (i hope!).
 
Sorry for bumping an old thread but didn't want to make one myself. I got Jumper on DVD a few days ago, I'd never seen it before but it looked good. But I probably won't watch it again. It wasn't terrible, but it was still sort of bad. The special effects are good and the story could potentially have made a really good film, but it didn't.

The acting was quite bad and for some other reason it just didn't feel right and I couldn't really get into it. There were a lot of threaRAB like "Worst films of 2008" or "Worst actors/actresses in a film" or "Films that you think are good but most people think are shit" that popped up when I was searching for a thread about this film - says it all, really. :p
