Jumper

I saw this film last. I did enjoy it. Despite reports suggesting Hayden Christensen is a rubbish actor i beg to differ. I thought he was talented. Rachel Bilson was good in the film as well and of course Jamie Bell.

I hoping to see more films because i feel we could have seen more than what we did. My mate thought it would be a dramatic ending but it was let down at the end.

I'll definitely get this on dvd.

Nicola.

I watched this today - I agree HC isn't very good, and that they could have done a lot more with the premise - the female lead too, was a bit two dimentional and having seen that Doug Liman was helming I did expect more than I eventually got - that being said - a solid 6 out of 10 (more for the idea and execution - than for the acting performances)

I've heard it was part of a trilogy or at least 2 films.

As for J Ross, i can't take his reviews seriously as he has an insane hatred for Kevin Smith films which doesn't wash with me!

First of all let me get the obvious out of the way: Rachel Bilson = extremely hot

yowch!

overall i thought it was a bit like a tv movie - a pilot for a series - in fact I thought he was going to team up with Samuel L Jackson to find bad jumpers at the end... the very end by the way sounRAB exactly the same as the bourne identity!!

Over all it was OK - enjoyable but maybe wait till it comes out on dvd.

Some niggles:

Why did he have a passport? He travels to italy presumanly for the first time on a plane and somehow alrerady has a passport... I would have loved it this exchange had happened

Rachel Bilson: 'Have you got your passport'

Harden: (realising) ...Damn

INSERT: 2 weeks later

Rachel Bilson: Passport?

Hayden flashes brand new documentation

or somethnig - that would oRABet the fact that he normally just jumps all the boring bits in his life -

Speaking of the airport - how do you travel to europe with a backpack full of money and not get caught??!!

how come they never kill anyone by jumping into people - that's what I thought when SLJ said you all kill someone sometime - in fact at one point i thought - just jump into someone's body and pulverise them from the inside - that would have been a cool effect.

As soon as Jamie bell (who was good I thought) said I knew a guy who neary jumped a building once i thought - ooooh i wonder what relevance that has  so obvious Christianson would do that - esp at the end when he was tied to... the building.

overall Ok - bit formulaic but quite enjoyable

Ditto.

The very wooden Hayden Christensen played a complete jerk & every time he appeared onscreen with Jamie Bell you realised that the actor with star power was playing second fiddle.

& the set up for a (non-existent I expect) sequel was just plain insulting.

Note to film makers. Make a half decent film before you expect people to climb aboard the franchise gravy train.

It was an ok storyline and good special effects BUT it was also to short, not to well acted (HC) and in reality was just another chance for SLJ to shout at everyone:)

Just seen this tonight. Nothing happened at all i dont think. As somebody upthread says, it just felt like a 90 minute trailer for Jumper 2.

I saw this film last Friday. I thought it was a decent movie. Though i was actually expecting abit more, to be quite honest.

I thought there would be more emphasis upon the mythology of Jumping. I also felt the storyline wasn't that engaging - A stronger plot would have sufficed. But i guess, i can predict where their going with future films. Which is to make the main character, the most powerful Jumper of them all. Along with an extension of his powers. And a deeper conspiracy against the Jumpers'. Which seems ok!

I saw this today & I enjoyed the start, with the young David & the scene being set. After that it was just a mess, got the feeling half the "plot" scenes had been cut out. No chemistry between the leaRAB, wooden acting & even Jamie Bell was wasted.

I left the cinema and thought WTF has just happened in the last hour and half?? It was just a lot of fancy scenes and very little story, the characters wernt explored, there was no explanation of why they could jump or why SLJ was the head of a group chasing jumpers.

Secondly I thought WTF was going on with Jamie Bells accent, was it Irish, Newcastle, Welsh, American?? It was very odd indeed!!

The only thing i can say for this film is it did make the most of spectacular scenery and the action scenes were pretty well performed.

Ah well.....judging by the hit and miss reviews so far of this highly rated 'jumped' up movie....

...then it can safely be avoided and forgotton about forever

Put it this way.

Is anyone here nominating it for an oscar?

No? And neither is anybody on IMDB either.

So no doubts it will go to DVD immediately...like many of the other movies this year so far

Just watched this and liked it even though it felt very much like the back story for a heroes character only with better special effects. I liked the whole jumping the car through traffic & bus etc. Should do well as a DVD

I agree, a TV series would have been much better, perhaps building up a history of the characters and then if it done well, onto a movie.
If they chose the movie path again it'll probably either be following on from the ending, or a prequel, but would need a lot less jumping in my opinion.
Have to admit would love to be able to doing a jumping punch, talk about power :D

I quite enjoyed it! It was just a bit of a fun action movie, I didn't really expect anymore from it. Was a bit disappointed by the resolution but then if sequels are planned then I guess that's what you get. Enjoyed Jamie Bell's character, would have liked to see more of him at the end - I liked his rather sarcastic attitude. I didn't think Hayden's acting was that bad, I know he gets criticised a hell of a lot, but I thought Rachel Bilson was worse, but neither of them were especially clunky.
