John Hughes R.I.P

Awww man another part of my childhood gone.

Will always remember Ferris

"Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop once in a while, you might miss it"

Looks like IMDB has gone down under the strain

Oh I just read this in IMDB. So sad, I love the Breakfast Club, I doubt we will ever see the directors cut now, he had over 3 hours of material recorded for it and only he had the only full version of it. RIP

Just read this on BBC site, can't quite believe it.

I can remember my mum taping The Breakfast Club for me, saying "It's a film you need to watch".

Rest in Peace John Hughes.

I'm absolutely gutted :( Not only are his films some of my favourites, but watching them holRAB so may brilliant memories. Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Great Outdoors, Some Kind of Wonderful, Ferris Bueller, Weird Science......

RIP JH

Rip, sad news indeed.

I too could quote The Breakfast Club, it's on my list of favourite films. I wore out the video I watched it so many times.

Looking on the IMDB I was surprised at how few films he actually directed himself. Most of his credits are as Producer or Writer.

He directed:

Curly Sue (1991)
Uncle Buck (1989)
She's Having a Baby (1988)
Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
Weird Science (1985)
The Breakfast Club (1985)
Sixteen Candles (1984)

Not to speak ill of the dead, or anything, but I think they're all only exceptional for their severe mediocrity. Sorry, an' all that.

John Hughes was a huge part of my teenage years and it's affecting me a bit more than it should because, just as I'm on the verge of 40, one of my teenage heroes dies. Too young.

The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller and Pretty in Pink are still among my favourite films of all time.

And I still can't believe Andie chose Blane over Duckie - even if he was Andrew McCarthy!

::Walks away with fist raised in triumph, singing "Don't you forget about me" in memory of Mr Hughes::
