Job listings say the unemployed need not apply

US economic factors do not translate into Canadian. If such were the case, Canada would not allow illegal immigrants from Mexico full citizenship.

As an unemployed student with very little job experience I can say things like this make me nervous about my future employment status.

Honestly? It's about selling yourself. If you can sell yourself, the doors open up for you left and right. Talk the talk and walk the walk when given the chance. Connections also play a huge part as well, but selling yourself and being able to connect on that business level really helps.

Isn't it illegal already?

subtle I have a jerb post

WRONG! This is actually a violation of people's right to privacy.

Someone's credit rating does not have ANYTHING to do with whether or not that person should be hired. NOTHING.

Don't believe the hype man....think for yourself.

The only exception.....you're being hired to make financial decisions with other people's money. Then HELL FUCKING YES, your credit rating should be a factor....otherwise, no.

After all, if you can't manage your own money, you won't be able to manage other people's money.

No because that actually has a direct impact on whether or not you can do the job they've hired you to do.

You will find the sociopaths in IT are also generally the ones who act like borderline aspergers Melvins around end users instead of treating them like normal people.
For all the IT hopefuls, there are two keys to success that cannot be overstated.

1. Know your specialty inside and out but always be willing to learn more and accept challenges.
2. Know how to talk to people and treat them like intelligent humans and not retarRAB.

Just graduated college, no college loans, yet only have 4k in my pocket.

Applied to 200+ jobs in my field, notable names as references etc.

Not one word back from any of them.

The whole networking thing is entirely true, but its still fucked up that the system is that way. I'm lucky and have a good nuraber of people sending out my name/resume but I keep getting "we're full with interns right now. Check back in 2 months"

I know people far more talented than me, and much smarter (academically) who are working part-time jobs because employers are 1) being retarded with their requirements 2) unwilling to even communicate with applicants 3) our government is being retarded with out money in "attempts to stimulate the economy"

Move to Atlanta. There is a HUGE IT field here with good pay.

Differently cities have different job environments. Mid-North Atlanta is known for its IT sector.

Not at all....it's outstandingly good.

The fact that you don't know this means you haven't been following my posts at all.

I've described my financial situation plenty of times.
