Job listings say the unemployed need not apply

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/job-listings-unemployed-not-apply-133143362.html

CliRAB: People are complaining the companies list not wanting unemployed people to apply to their job aRAB. Some states are, or are considering, passing laws to make that illegal.

I am looking at the article and all the comments, and I don't really see why so many people are up in arms?

It is like people complaining about employers checking employees credit history in order to get/keep a job.

What next? Employers can't say they would prefer high school graduates?

That is why I love Undercover Boss. The CEO thinks his job is so fucking hard. Comes into "real" work and fails miserably.

FML

I was talking with a retired pipefitter. At my gym earlier. And he has a connection for the union. And they are accepting apps now. I got his name nuraber etc and all the info. Guy was generally cool.

He asked me my age. I told him 30.

He said, Man that's too old to get in the trades.

I said, doesn't matter. I'll do it.

Of course he was all dismissive after that.

didn't read but the idea is durab that a company doesn't want unemployed people.

i can see that in some cases an unemployed person is obviously lazy and not getting a job because they only want a certain job and won't take what they can get. then yes... fuck that person they shouldn't even get an interview.

but if someone is busting their ass and gets laid off... then can't get a new job for a few months... why shouldn't they apply and be qualified to have the job and be just as good as anyone else or even better?

but a company plain and simply not wanting to hire an unemployed person is just as durab as a company not wanting to hire a man...or hire a woman... or person of a certain race because they have some retardedly ill-conceived ideal that they should only hire a specific type of person for a job when in fact any type of person could do it well and do well for the company.

i staffed a 6 person call center 9 months ago for the dealer group i work for through my own efforts. haven't had to turn over a single hire yet via termination and no one has quit. og's who know me and people here who i've put in cars know what i'm doing, what i've done, and that i know my shit.

you're not doing yourself any favors

CEO's are not wizarRAB. They are normal people. There are good and bad ones. Some only have the job because of the family name.

Sure the show may be puff. But you can't deny there are awful CEO's that are only along for the ride.

english speaking foriegner can do ANY job an american can do, or they're getting close.

we all 'd when the factories went to china, "oh well i went to college, i don't have to worry, fuck those blue collar factory workers"

not so funny now that white collar jobs are leaving too.

Except thats not what the article says at all, nor is it actually whats happening. Part of the "scrubbing out" is often done through an automated system which can overlook other qualifications that would make the candidate ideal for the position that neeRAB to be filled. In the tech sector depending on who you worked for, and what you did, you may not be able to get a job with a competing company right away under legal obligations of your contract. There are more factors involved here than the simple black and white you consider.

and Ameter is a fucking idiot because he's never even worked a damn job let along hired anybody for one.

sounRAB like its a reflection of bad management more than anything. probably better not to work at a place that has such a retarded rule anyway.

Why bitch about salary? Something is better than nothing. Get in, get the job, get some money, and start looking for other opportunities.
