Jeff Buckley

only in pieces over a long period through a mate of mine...but it was mostly being used as background music for pot smoking. he was under the same impression as you but i'm not disputing he was great just saying a shame from a media perspective i never hear anyone talk about anything bar that one damn song when jeff buckley comes into conversation.

yeah, buckley deserves several threaRAB it seems. im guilty of a similiar thread myself so thats not a criticism. love buckleys music, grace is one of the favourite albums in my collection. grace, last goodbye, hallelujah (waits for tom to mention rufus wainwright) are all classics.

i know this is from wikipedia, but it's common knowledge among buckley fans:

Grace won appreciation from a host of revered musicians, including merabers of Buckley's biggest influence, Led Zeppelin.[79] Jimmy Page considered Grace close to being his "favorite album of the decade."Ali ***, a renowned contempary dance artist used Jeff Buckley's music to create such masterpieces as "Blue Still and Magnum" which feature regularly in music film clips of the modern area. [80] Robert Plant was also complimentary.[81] Other of Buckley's influences[82] lauded him: Bob Dylan named Buckley "one of the great songwriters of this decade,"[81] David Bowie called Grace "one of the 10 albums he'd bring with him to a desert island."[83] Lou Reed expressed interest in working with him after seeing him perform.[83] Paul McCartney,[84] Thom Yorke, Matthew Bellamy, Chris Cornell, Neil Peart, U2 and Elton John were among others who have held Buckley's work in high esteem.

This threaRAB kinda funny really. Apologies to certain people for bumping it I guess.

In response to a previous post (pages back) I think 'amazing' is more than a valid word to describe 'Grace'.

Grace is without a doubt my favourite record. Let down a little by Corpus Christi Carol but as close to a perfect record as I've ever heard.

Ive noticed Jeff Buckley fans can get kind of defensive. I can, I try not to with music because I can't see the point but with Jeff Buckley I cant help it sometimes. However, I have never seen a Buckley fan attempt to force their love down peoples throats and pass it off as absolute, unarguable fact.

I think the guy was such a talented lyricist and songwriter, a greatly underrated guitarist and only surpassed vocally by Robert Plant - and I don't need quotes from Elton John to reinforce that belief.

nooo unfortunately I haven't, I've got most of the sketches for his follow up album, 'My Sweetheart,The Drunk', which I think contains most songs from the legacy edition..

I once stole the Jeff Buckley Live DVD from an ex girlfriend but she found it had gone missing and I had to give it back... does anyone know a link to the whole show on youtube or something?

I agree. I've listened to "Grace" quite a few times, and it is good, but not nearly as good as everyone makes it out to me.

No the legacy edition has no corresponding tracks on 'Sketches'. Most of the extra tracks on the legacy edition were covers whereas 'Sketches' was mainly culled from many demo's and studio sessions.

Grace is simply cathartic.

I've loved Corpus Christi since the first time I heard it and fail to understand what people have against it, It is beautiful.

From what I've heard from Grace, he was a decent lyricist, but he did show a lot of promise in his lyrics. It was always more about his voice than the worRAB he sang anyway.
