Japanese Culture: Is it OKAY to give 2000yen instead as a Gift to a Japanese

Confusious

birthday girl (25yo)? I just don't know what to give and I have not enough time to buy it today.

So Im asking if 2000yen is enough or is it too cheap?
I have just met her 2 days ago, a friend of a friend, not very close yet. But she invited me to her birthday.

I think it's a little too cheap.Maybe give her the 2000 yen and another gift> What ever you get her,be sure to have it wrapped really nice...have you noticed how the Japanese wrap gifts?

It's like 20 +/- a few dollars. I don't think she'd like it that much.

I don't know what's cheap for you, 5000 yen might be better.

My grandparents gave me 10000 yen for my birthday, but girls like to receive material things which means that you actually cared about them, such as a cell phone charm or whatever.

How well do you know her, and what relations do you have with her? If you want to give money, put it in a red envelope. Check out how it looks like on Google.
