Jamie Oliver's American Food Revolution CH4 Mondays 10pm

I don't know enough about this and I need someone to please explain it to me. I don't understand this show.

I commend Jamie for wanting to take this on - but did anyone actually ask for his help in America - or did he just take it upon himself to go out there and sort out their diet?

At the mo, it just looks like he's sorted out the school dinners in this country - and gone over there to do the same - but he's not being welcomed - and it seems the Americans know they are unhealthy and don't actually care or want any help - so why is he doing it? Just because he cares about the terrible USA diets?

Alot of why they are reacting the way they are is cultural . That part of America is viewed pretty badly, almost like they were the locals from Deliverance.
So they are very wary of any criticism of them and obivously there has been a lot, and they are doubly wary of a 'foreigner' coming to tell them how bad they are.

If you'd seen School Dinners and Ministry of Food you might not feel so glad to be British.
The kiRAB weren't too clued up about their veggies over here either.

My first thought was "shouldn't they have been teaching that anyway?"

Oh god that is horrible, i just wanted to slap jamie round the head every time he said it. completely cringeworthy!

No, It's a MOOO POINT - "It's like a cows opinion, it just doesnt matter..." :D

And Hulk Hogan called dibbs on "brother" long before Desmond from lost did!

Oh, the TV show...

If they go with a 'like it or lump it' approach, the kiRAB WILL eat it - eventually. What the school board don't seem to want to risk is the few weeks of having no option and not eating very much that the kiRAB would go through...

I'm a bit confused. Will this actually be aired in America and will they watch it, considering they probably haven't even heard of Jamie Oliver?

When he did this in the UK, he'd already built up a name for himself on tv and advertising.

That sight of the oversize coffin was pretty gobsmacking wasn't it?

And does it really matter if the DJ was a put up job for the TV show? The intentions of the show are positive. I really hope that young girl who says she may only have a few years left to live is able to turn her life around as a result of the show.

True, and I'm not surprised by the reactions either to be honest. Winning over America won't be easy.

I really want to enjoy this program, but does anybody else HATE the American production of these kind of shows? It was the same with Ramsays Kitchen Nightmares. They dont seem to show half as much actual program, and what is shown seems so fake and contrived.

The UK versions seem to get in so much more information and program, I dont get it.

Can someone please tell Jamie Oliver to stop calling everyone 'Brother', only one person has been able to pull that off and its not him.

(That person is Desmond from Lost).

cant remember if the Jamie's Kitchen has dramatic background music but it seems to be the norm in every American reality show. I really hate that!
