I'm working with this kid in our school play, he's the lead opposite me, and he knows most of his lines, but he's really not confidant about it. We did a rough run-through of the show at the last practice, and you could see that when he forgot a line, his mind completely shut down, and messed him up for the rest of the scene.
My director has asked me to try to help him by boosting his confidance. Trouble is, I have no idea how to go about doing that, especially since he and I aren't good friends.
Also, I know that he's under a lot of stress (I don't blame him; he has a million and a half lines, and it's only his second show ever), and we'd like to try to help him work through that.
What I'm asking is: how to help this kid be more confidant, and under less stress, when I'm not really good friends with him.
