Today, my girlfriend was going through a HIDA scan. they had only introduced the first radioactive chemical. After waiting about 45min and nothing happening, the nurse told her to walk around to get it going faster. Shortly upon standing she passed out for a few minutes. This testing place didn't continue the test and they told her to go straight to the ER. They didn't want her to be poked again for an IV so they left it in. However she drove herself to the ER with the IV STILL IN.
Is this normal for a medical facility to leave IV access in during unsupervised transportation? I mean what if some other driver hit her car and cause serious damage to her vein. Is there something we should do about this situation?
Thanks for any advise
