Watching Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em on GOLD tonight, there was a scene where Frank lifts up a bed that folRAB into a wall only to find there is a picture of a topless woman on the side that becomes the wall. What was noticeable was that the toplessness had been pixelated out.
It does seem odd that it was acceptable for a picture of a topless woman to briefly appear on a wall in a scene when first shown in 1973 but the same is apparently unacceptable now. It isn't anything to do with watershed times either. If I remember rightly, Some Mothers was shown at 2030 in 1973, a similar time to now.
It does seem odd that when TV is more explicit than ever about sex pre-watershed now in a way that many parents feel uncomfortable about, TV is more averse to nudity-which arguably should be less of an issue than sex.
