Is this what I need to install a new CD player?

I was going to get a new CD player in my car. It is a 1999 Cadillac Deville with the factory radio installed. I want to get this CD player in:

But when I took it to Circuit City they said they could not install it because the factory radio was connected to a computer thing that helped run the whole car. They said they had to re wire the car and they would not even do that. They said that if another place does it it would cost $500. I went to an online place and was told that I could buy a thing that tricks the car to think that the new CD player is the factory radio. Is this the thing I need?
