Is this a good deal for the sale on these Bell Receivers

MPEG4 will be introduced first for HD only and then eventually all receivers will be swapped out. Dish Network has already begun this process and is charging customers for the upgrade.
 
in most cases, it's less than 15%...most receivers only have about $20 margin in them...the money is made on back end commissions on new activations.
 
So the first (deal) receiver get a free install but if I put out 100 bucks for the second standard receiver they charge me $50... I can easily hook those up, cable in cable out, plug in phone line, Call Bell - authorize, done. Correct? To save myself $50 on the second could I just do it myself or do they not allow that.
 
I was told (at the Bell store) that to rent the 9200 I had to take the $98 per month package that included the movies, etc. Perhaps I was given wrong information.

I only wanted a $57 per month package (Basics, HD and 5 theme packs). So it made sense for me to buy - based on that advice. Plus I got an extra $50 off the receiver with a Friends of Bell coupon. But I think that ended Sunday.

I really wish they would just give the discout up front. Rebates mean you pay tax on the whole amount - and that doesn't help Bell or us - just the governments.
 
no...Bell does not buy its business...they don't need to...they instead offer the most programming and let their service sell itself.

however i'm still confused here. being that the 9200 is a dual tuner, that means i just need one receiver for both tvs?

or
would i get the HD PVR and then have to rent a regular receiver for $3/month extra?


in addition, heres my real problem. We have a small 13" tv that is used as a camera for outside. Meaning, if someone rings the bell, we can turn on that tv and change it to channel 115 and see who's outside. this is hooked up through our regular cable.

if i switch to bell, what can i do here? does this mean that i have to get another extra receiver just for the security system?
 
That coupled with the promise that bell will replace "all "the 9200 with an upgrade by this time next year, there is nothing to worry about.Right, isn't that the old ******** baffles brains method.
 
i wouldn't go by what you read someone at FS is supposed to get...i often get irate customers come in to our store after not getting what they were promised at a FS store...i tell them the info they received was incorrect, and give them the correct info...they often get angry and mad at bell...i don't understand why they would be angry at BEV...it is FS that gave them wrong or outdated info.

looking at that post, it is full of incorrect details of promotions, expired promotions and misinformation.

that person is going to have one heck of a wake up call when they get their bill or try and cancel in a year...i honestly doubt you will see Bell in places like FS for much longer...too many problems.
 
So mass produced 9200's rate out of the factory for Dish and BEV cost $580 to make even though they make thousands for the demand of both companies.

That doesn't sound right to me, sorry.
 
This is the reason I decided to buy. I got half off the price of my PVR, and in less than 15 months (just over the year warranty) I will have paid for my PVR. With the $150 off and the $25 bill credit from ordering online, if it dies, then I'm no worse off. Plus I can sell the receiver at any time and it seems from doing some research that people pay really good money for these receivers, even second hand.
 
I don't get any, (don't work in that department) but I been watching westmanguy for awhile making his chioce and setting the install up ect, so when I saw he missed his install yesterday I asked about complaints in MB that day.

From what I am told 95%+ of install, moves and service calls for ExpressVu go smooth with no problems.
 
Installer is here, he did a compass check and thinks its gonna be really close to getting signal. And if the branches grow this could be a problem. :( He is gonna be nice enough to set up the dish and were gonna see what type of signal I get. It will be kinda rough estimate as my *choice dish is still mounted.

Don't think anything more I can do? :(
 
the IRIS program works fine...the FS boys simply don't know what they are doing...they are probably getting a message that the receiver doesn't appear to be from their inventory, and stopping right there...all they need to do is click submit again and it will print out the confirmation order.
 
My guess is that BEV will also, so all you guys buying now and think that they will get a free upgrade watch out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Workforbell is feeding us a bunch of ...... I would not make a decision based on what an employee says!!! (sorry workforbell no offense) If he is the project leader and knows what is really going on, they announce your inner knowledge, but until them wait, or be prepared to belly up to the bar with cash!!! That is why I` am waiting till I move or not.
 
hmmm.... makes sense. I have never read about that deal anywhere else and as I'm going to make the switch anyday now. Obviously, I'm looking for the best deal.

It's done for a reason, if we allowed every customer who wanted to add a receiver whenever they wanted to just rent and get free install that part of the company would go broke, (ie instead of a customer getting all 4 done at the start they may call 4 times, four truck rolls, tons of extra man hours). Se we set limits.

Yes, you can install the second one yourself. It would be best to call and have the first receiver (the 9200) activated first. Then call back a second time to have the 4100 installed. I say this because if you include both in the same call, Bell might assume the installer also installed the second 4100. This happened to me. I had the 9200 with the free install and I installed two 4100's myself. I called all three in at the same time, and a $100 installation fee (2x4100) was added to my bill. Took a while to fix too because they didn't believe me!

Correct, Bell will replace all 9200's with an mpeg4 versions next year. In two year AIO customers will get a free upgrade on that box to the newest and greatest box, any questions?
 
Hmm he said there has been problems the past few months activating. It looks pretty simple to me though. He inputted all my information, then the program was suppose to pop up another box where he inputs the serial number etc but that never happened. It basically didn't save any of my information as he couldn't retrieve it. :(

I have the two sheets of paper which he did input though and printed out for me lol not that it helps any.

Gonna back in an hour and try one final time.
