is this a good deal for my first system?

ok well i went to car tunes and they had this package deal. you get one 12" Apline type S sub. a 600 watt max amp (4 channels). a box for the sub, all the wires, AND instilation for only 350 dollars. i really know nothing about car systems. i tryed doing a bunch of research online and this seems to be a pretty damn good deal to me. but i wanted to know what you experienced guys thought about it. he siad it would be running about 300watt RMS
 
Sparky speaks the truth about the 4 channel amp. Ideally you would want to have a Mono amp (one-channel amp) to power a subwoofer. You can also use a 2-channel for two subs. But any more channels isn't that great for a setup. I would see If I could talk the salesman into throwing a mono three hundred watt amp in the deal. He may charge a little more but it wouldn't be too big of a hassle for them.

Well a 4-channel amp isnt' really meant for subs and the way they'd have to wire it isn't a very good method which can cause problems.

Not a good deal.
