Is there any wax/polish that can help the clear coat?

Hi there, the clearcoat on my car hood is faded is there any type of wax or car polish that will help restore it? I'm sure nothing other then a body shop can make it perfect but I'm searching for an affordable way to make it look better? I hope there is something I can do. Thanks a lot
