Is There Any Point in Continuing Shrek?

I was going to say exactly what VileOne said....the first movie was a blatant, yet indirect jab at Disney and all of the wholesome, attempting to be hip yet still saccharine stuff they had put out over the years, as well as their Microsoft-like lordship over the entertainment industry. But now Shrek itself has become a whore in the exact same manner, which is pretty sad. Dreamworks Animation was supposed to be an upstart that took bigger risks, yet they have pretty much lost their way.

That's what every company does things for. :p Dreamworks is no different than Pixar or any other animation company. They're all in it for the moneys. The satisfaction of putting out a high quality movie is a secondary concern.

Good lord I've been thinking this since the third film. 2 and 1 were great but man I hated the third one. I'm thinking of skipping the 4th, I'm sure the kiddies will see it though causing more money than will have a 5th :(

While I'm apparently in the minority of having liked Shrek The Third just fine (my review of the DVD: http://www.dvdinmypants.com/reviews/O-V/shrek_the_third.php), it pretty much wrapped up the series as a nicely-rounded trilogy, with the Shrek The Halls TV special as a charming epilogue. I'll reserve judgement on Shrek Goes Fourth until I can see a trailer, but Dreamworks is really pushing the series to the limit here.
