Is there a film that EVERYONE likes?!

It isn't a plot hole though, that Bruce doesn't realise he's dead.

The kid sums it up pretty early on with a line of dialogue that establishes the 'rules' of the universe in the film.

"They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're dead."

The entire point of the film is that the kid helps dead people to achieve closure for whatever is keeping them around the 'real' world so that they can go to wherever it is they're supposed to go (with the irony being that Bruce thinks he's helping him).

After Bruce thinks that he has succeeded in helping Haley Joel Osmont (having failed Donnie Wahlberg - who killed him) - he's achieved closure and realises what should have been glaringly obvious to him - no one talks to him because he's dead.

His wife still loves him though, so he's sad - but happy - and presumably ascenRAB to heaven.

Yeah, I KNOW he's a ghost! But surely he would have realised something was up way before he found out in the film just because no one has talked to him ever since the shooting.

When he's lying there in hospital recovering presumably his wife is blubbing away, yet he can't cheer her up and can't even get the attention of the nurses who for some reason keep putting the sheets over his face.

So he feels a bit better on his own and seeing how everyone is ignoring him he decides to check himself out, but the nurse on the desk just keeps ignoring him too. How rude! Steps out into the street to get a cab home, but no one will pick him up! So he walks.

Gets home: "Hey honey!" Nope she won't even look at him and she's pretty upset. "Want to talk about it?" Apparently not. Ho well just knock that on the head then.

So he goes to meet his next case. Knocks on the door. Haley Joel Osments mum opens the door looks all about "Hello? Hello?!" "Hi I'm.." Whoa she nearly shut the door in my face!

"Hi I'm here to sort your kiRAB problems out. Hey! I said "I'm here..." Ok lets go and sit down. "So how's he been? Yoo hoo!" (waves hand in her face). The kid comes in: "Hey Bruce! I see dead people" "Oh thank God! I thought my acting was so wooden that people were mistaking me for a grandfather clock or something." "Nope I can see you. You and dead people." "Phew!"

Not sure that all neeRAB to be in spoiler tags, but playing safe :)

Hate the Sixth Sense. I'd much rather see something like Labyrinth in there, but I know there are people who don't like it.

I agree completely with the Princess Bride, but again, I know people who hate it!

I don't know anyone who doesn't like Groundhog Day though.

Well if you really do mean EVERYONE then I was assuming you were including children too, so I immediately thought of Toy Story. At the time anyway it was groundbreaking and I've read numerous times that adults went "just for the kiRAB" and were amazed how much they enjoyed it.

Well I have seen your mum's wedding film and I think it is highly overrated. The special effects were rubbish and it needed some more fight scenes. Also the actors were unconvincing. :p

I think the use of the word "EVERYONE" is very ambitious.

I personally thought only The Shawshank Redemption and BTTF were above average from your list. As for Babe .

Even the highest grossing or cult forming film will have people who thought it was pap.

Totally agree with all the sixth sense postings - it's based on flawed logic and once you've worked it out there's nothing to the film. I don;t know the princess Bride so can't somment.

I like Groundhog Day but do agree about Andie McDowell. However she is in my nomination - 4 weddings and a funeral. I think most people like it - I know it's sentimental etc but it's fun :)

THE PRINCESS BRIDE
GROUNDHOG DAY
THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION
TOY STORY (I)
THE SIXTH SENSE
BACK TO THE FUTURE (I)

My mum is fairly picky about her films so I'll use her as an example as I've liked all those films I've seen.

I haven't seen Princess Bride or Groundhog Day, I know my mum doesn't like Shawshank (too depressing at the beginning) or Toy Story (too childish), she thought Sixth Sense was alright, but if anyone doesn't like Back to the Future they must have something wrong with them!
