heehee I liked your spoiler. I'm not sure if you are being entirely serious. Anyway my thought is that you aren't meant to take the film in such a logical way. Of course he would notice that no one was talking to him or looking at him etc etc if he was in his right state of mind.
But since he is a *cough cough ahem you know what* the rules of logic don't apply like that. I tended to think it was like he was existing in a sort of dream-state, like the moment when you just wake up but aren't fully conscious. So he would have these encounters with the boy and his wife but in between times wouldn't exist as such in a conscious plane of blah blah I will stop talking arse now.
By the way I'm not a big fan of the film or anything, mostly because some bastard revealed the secret before I had seen it.
