The woman involved in the Sudan trouser case asked for her UN status to be ignored when deciding on her sentence, so I think she, along with the other women who were sentenced, were very brave, to challenge something that seems so minor to other cultures, but is still important to some muslim cultures. Any time the status quo is questioned, it is a win, even if laws aren't changed now, these women have been made martyr's by their government, and even if it seems minor, sometimes, all it takes are a few ppl to create a small ripple of dissension, that can become a massive wave of cultural change, in the future. Sometimes, just knowing others question authority, is very shocking and unsettling and can lead to ppl questioning all sorts of customs and laws.
