Yes, the 500 Ninja is an excellent bike for beginners. As long as you take the motorcycle Safety Class first. They will teach you how to ride, properly. The 500 will have enough power so you won't get bored with it the first couple of years and small enough that it's not over powering. Good luck.
Can't answer for the Ninja, but to get on a Busa' as a beginner is like asking for a death wish. Hayabusa's are wonderful, amazing, extremely powerful machines and in the hands of a novice; dangerous.
