dunno....seems to me that a "zero tolerance" policy should be in place for both american and european pop culture/media.
interesting question: would it have been different if someone representing a low-income white person did this? (think kid rock or someone of the sort)
Do you think public forgiveness would be granted so easily?
These are food for thought questions..especially the second one. If i can inject my own values here, i think NOBODY deserves forgiveness for beating a woman and it should be "INSTANT-CAREER-ENDER"
tainted love -
fair enough, but knowing the psychology and the cycle of the abused, is she really in the position to model correct public/moral behavior?
vanity - i agree 100% about tommy lee, but we live in a culture (and worship a POP culture) that thrives on white/black comparisons.
Betty,
it IS up to the public when your career depends solely on public support and opinion.
anton,
great answer and i DO agree with you that the public apology was a farse and he hasn't owned his guilt yet.....and the point you made about the fact that he's surrounded by people who are insulating him is very valid. The only part where you and i will differ is on Tommy Lee. i agree more with vanity in that ZERO TOLERANCE should be shown across the board...even if it IS just a slap fight by a couple low-life drunks
