Not to boast but I can think of various concepts at once and easily grasp any level of math when I learn the basics. When I entered the 8th grade, I didn't pay much attention in math or any class for that matter, had a lot of personal issues going on. I then moved to another state and missed much of the second semester due to more personal issues but finally enrolled in school for the last 2 months--don't ask why, wasn't my choice
. I out performed everyone in my Alegbra class on the remaining tests despite 'learning' what I could in 8 weeks, which came back to bite me in the future when I enrolled in a community college last semester and didn't test out of intermediate Algebra and I don't see how in the hell I didn't because the class was extremely easy. I guess it was because I never really 'learned' it in the 8th grade but it oddly didn't trouble me back in high school when I took higher math. Don't know.
I obviously had to repeat the 8th grade due to being out of school for some months and during my second year in the 8th grade, I had a horrible math teacher who couldn't control his class so there wasn't much teaching going on but when I took tests, I passed them and scored higher than most students. When I took Precalculus in the 11th grade, I didn't have a hard time with that. The same with Calculus in the 12th grade, it was pretty easy once I learned the basic idea of derivatives and didn't need much help from my teacher on later problems.
Out of curiosity, I watched some lectures on Multivariable Calculus and Linear Alegbra and understood everything, what I saw that is, I have to finish watching the rest of the lectures. The only exception with math is geometry, probably because it involves a lot of visualization. As long as I can remember, I can not visualize any thing no matter how hard I try and have a sub par visual memory. I've tried many memory games and suck at them
. What the heck is wrong? How come I don't have a hard time with concepts and grasp any thing with math (aside from geometry) so easily but not be able to visualize any thing? I mean I can describe (barely) what a person wore if I take notice but I can't picture them at all.
Is this normal?
