Is my car audio pulling too much current from my battery?

I've been having problems with my car battery and think it might have something to do with the sound in my car.
When i have the power for the amp hooked up to the battery,it takes long to start the car,if at all.
When i disconnect the power it seems to work fine.
Does anyone know what could be wrong and how to fix it

you shouldn't get the power directly from the battery. there is an auxilary terminal in your fuse box for that. when you get the power through the fuse box, it is coming from the alternator and wont draw from the battery.
 
Yes, when your amplifier is drawing to many amps it causes your voltage to drop dangerously low and drain the barttery. Will it hurt the alternator? no, but it will keep draining your batteries causing you to run through them. The answer to this problem is getting a high output alternator. Your stock alternator is put in to handle the cars functions. Take your cars stock alternators amperage, and add it to the fuse rating on your amplifier. You should get an alternator around the amount of amps in your solution (specifically higher). Good luck, hope my answer made sense to you.
