Is Miss Manners right, that it's rude even to suggest to guests that they leave

their shoes at the door? According to Miss Manners, it's rude to tell guests that it's the custom in your household. After all, she says, it's not part of Western culture.

Do you leave your shoes at the door when you enter your house? Why? Religious, family, or cultural custom? Keeping the carpet or floor clean? Other reasons?

Do you know other families that leave their shoes at the door in their homes?

I was surprised to hear that people do this in Sweden & not just in Asian countries. Are we barbarians, in a minority for not removing our shoes at the door?
