Is it wrong of GAP to sell military jackets?

The argument:
GAP's marketing of military jackets is military propaganda. By portraying the military jacket as a fashion item, it sends the message that joining the army is "cool" and "bad-ass".

However, in reality the military is not so glamorous.

I am not anti-military. I respect those who have joined the military and served their country. However, I do not support pro military PROPAGANDA. I find it deceptive. Propaganda does not address the sacrifices required to serve your country.

I worry that those who only join the military because they see it portrayed as "cool" may be committing themselves to something they did not think through. They may not have fully considered the fact that they may be sacrificing their lives or limbs for freedom.

Agree, or disagree? Provide a counter argument.
In response to Friday, while this sort of propaganda will not fully convince anyone with half a brain, it does have some sort of subconscious pull. It creates a positive association with the military, and therefore further encourages a fascination with and support of the military, which may ultimately move someone who was on the fence about joining to do so because there is an emotional tie to the military.

I agree. Same reasoning behind toy guns, toy soldiers, military themed video games. But these items only sell if people desire them, whether through marketing - or some sense of fascination with the military. I personally think its ridiculous reasoning by some of these wanna-be's, that somehow wearing Military clothing signifies their toughness or willingness to sacrifice. Most of 'em wouldn't help a friend getting jumped in one of their upscale trendy bars.
But I've been guilty of this myself. Wearing an Eisenhower jacket in the early 70's, although it was adorned with peace signs and other anti-war slogans. Different time, different place, different war.

No it is not wrong on the basis that anyone who is silly enough to join the army based on a fashion craze is probably lacking in the intelligence needed to carry out a job other than being the army...
