Is it really that hard to make a 49 yard field goal for most kickers in the NFL?

My friend seems to think it is. No wind, dead center, most kickers should be able to nail it 9 out of 10 times.
Especially since there have been kickers that have kicked from further out than that with the wind not in there favor and at various angles. Im talking 55 yarders and even 60 yarders and the longest ever 63 kicked by the great Jason Elam.
'9 out of 10 times from 49 yards??? I dont think i know any kicker who can do that'

With no wind and dead center? Why the hell not? Of course they can.

btw, jason elam did that kick in mile high stadium where balls traditionally travel further due to the thin mountain air--thats why the most home runs in baseball are hit there too'

Yeah true, but another kicker who goes by the name of Morten Anderson also has a career long of 63 yards and that one wasn't kicked through all that "thin" moutain air. Get what Im saying now?

The "kickers that have kicked from further" didn't even hit 9 out of 10 from 49 yards. If your friend thinks so, tell him to go try it sometime. He won't even kick it 49 yd on a roll let alone FG distance for 49 yd without all the other variables invovled, i.e., hold, snap, rush, etc.

a kick that ranges from 40 to 50 yards, is a challenging for NFL kickers, I would not say its "really hard"

because a really hard kick should be around 53-56 yards, its been done before but its rare

It isn't a free kick.. Even NFL kickers don't hit from 50 yds 90% of the time in game situations. Below are the career stats and accomplishments of one of the good ones Matt Bryant.

In 94 career games, has converted 138 of 168 field goals (82.1 pct.), a long kick of 62 yards, 181 of 185 PATs (97.8 pct.) for 595 career points. Kicked the second-longest game-winning field goal in NFL history after splitting the uprights on a 62-yarder against Philadelphia in 2006

His percentage including the short ones doesn't make 90%. Sure, he would do it if no one got in his face coming around the end. No 6'8" DEs leaped as he kicked. Each hold perfect. No slips, uneven ground, muscle twitches..........
